King suite in Ottawa Valley Victorian gothic home

The Hielans is a hilltop Victorian gothic heritage house in the heart of Lanark. Built by the Caldwell family c. 1865, it survived the devastating fire of 1959 and is a historic reminder of the village’s legacy. It is a grand home with incredible atmosphere, making it a unique place to stay while visiting the Highlands, be it to attend a wedding, golf, go antiquing, visit a sugar shack, explore nature or seek out the supernatural. The space COVID PROTOCOLS: The host has committed to following Airbnb's cleaning program. In addition, the kitchen (usually a common space) will not be available to guests. Instead, a mini fridge and coffee maker will be provided in the dining room with self-serve options. Please ask the host for anything that might be needed from the kitchen and it will be retrieved and provided where possible. This is a 150 year old house that derives its very special energy and charm from its age. Accordingly, be aware that the house may show signs of being a work in progress. Guests will be advised of any potential work that may be ongoing around the property during their stay (e.g. exterior painting). Enjoy the antique furniture and curiosities throughout the home, but please respect that they are delicate and be gentle with them. Guest access Guests will have access to certain common spaces (dining room and parlour) during their stay, as well as the wraparound porch and the yard. Private spaces are clearly marked and should not be entered by guests. Guests are welcome to participate in activities that may be happening around the property (e.g. bonfire nights). Guests staying in the King suite enjoy a private ensuite bathroom. During your stay Host lives on site and is happy to make recommendations for things to do in the area and local businesses to support.
