Nostalgic for their homeland, this new home with separate two-bedroom apartment for guests on the third level, is named YBALON, the legendary name of the Bicol Region of the Philippines before Spanish colonization. The first and second levels with an elevator, are occupied by two sisters, who built this as their retirement home. The third floor apartment has a separate staircase access, and is self-contained and private. It has a cathedral ceiling, complete kitchen, a spacious living/dining area, 1.5 Jack and Jill bath with laundry and dryer, and a large deck with panoramic view of the town. It is fully equipped with amenities for guests' comfort and enjoyment of the beach and the offerings of this vibrant historic town. Cape Charles on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake seduces with old fashioned charm, where residents are friendly and proud of their place. It is also sophisticated with fine restaurants, exclusive shops, art galleries, signature golf courses by Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus, and in season, joyful with festivals and community events. The beach is picturesque with its fine white sand, dunes and sea grass, a fishing pier where you can catch crabs and fish without a fee. At dusk, you can have your cocktails and watch the spectacular sunset unfold. Everything is 15 minutes walk away from the house; the beach, shops, restaurants, the park with tennis courts, and a gazebo where music is played in summertime. There is a golf cart purveyor across the street, if walking becomes undesirable. And Rayfield's drugstore next door has an old fashioned soda fountain, and country breakfast scrapple. For those who want to exert themselves, there's kayaking, hiking, bicycling, deep sea fishing, and sailing, paragliding, and of course swimming. The marshes is teeming with life and very photogenic when you catch it in the glow of sunrise or sunset. And with awe, you get a thrill driving over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel for the first time. It is a new construction within the historic district of Cape Charles, with a front picket fence and front porch. There are 3 levels, the 1st and 2nd levels are owner occupied and have separate access. The 3rd level for guests can be accessed by the back elevator until the 2nd level, then by a separate staircase. The whole 3rd level is the 2-bedroom guest apartment. It has a large deck off the bedrooms. The guests have access to the back elevator and the carport and yard. The public beach is a 15-minute walk to the opposite end of Tazewell Ave., as well, Mason Rd. where the shops and restaurants are. The golf course is a 10-minute drive, as well as Food Lion, a grocery store. There is a Golf cart rental one block away and Rayfield's Pharmacy. We live on the premises in completely private spaces but are available to guests as much or as little as they like. We are well-traveled, and love to entertain. Cape Charles is a historic little town on the Chesapeake Eastern Shore, with a collection of charming Victorian cottages. The towns along US Route 13 from the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel to the Maryland border have tongue-twisting Indian Names, such as Wachapreague, Onancock, Pungoteague. Most are fishing villages and marshes and farmlands. The area is rural and laid back mostly, but Cape Charles is unique in combining this rural charm with urban sophistication because of the nearby resort community, Bay Creek, with housing development, golf courses, and marina. The area is home of the Chesapeake blue crab and to oyster and clam farms. Near the Maryland Border are Chincoteague and Assateague Islands where the famous crossing of the wild ponies takes place every summer. Tangier Island is also a day trip away. And across the CBBT is Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Williamsburg, Jamestown, Richmond, historic cities that are within a day's drive to explore and enjoy. COVID19 NOTIFICATION: Cape Charles beach is open but social distancing and other safety protocols will still need to be observed.
