An Taigh Mara is a very modern two storey property, decorated to enhance the experience of both the local area and Scotland in general. With stunning views directly over the sea from the rear and just a few metres from the harbour and views of the village and the Galloway hills to the front. An Taigh Mara will be your own personal retreat from the world, whether you stay local or use this as a base to explore the beautiful Scottish coastline or the hills and forests of Galloway. The space This harbour side home sits on the fringe of the picturesque fishing village of Garlieston. Sleeping 4 the property comprises one double bedroom (with En-Suite, closet and French doors opening onto a balcony with sea views), a twin bedroom (with closet and drawer unit for additional storage) and a family bathroom. The open plan ground floor offers guests a modern spacious living area, breakfast bar with stools adjoining the well equipped kitchen and a cosy dining area. Whilst the sea and harbour may be seen from all windows, it is from the breakfast bar and rear balcony those views impact most; whether having breakfast or a glass of something bubbly. An Taigh Mara has been furnished and decorated with guests in mind. Down lighting that’s dimmable (Alexa control if desired), 4K TV (with blu-ray player and a selection on movies), Netflix/Prime video are also provided as well as a fridge, freezer, washing machine, dishwasher and electric central heating throughout. Its rare to find both a washer and a dish washer in this area. Table, chairs and a bench are located outside to the rear in a stone chipped yard overlooking the sea and an additional balcony table and chairs are available. Outdoor furniture is provided as well as outdoor plates and cups for the lunches in the sun and a glass of wine as you watch the tide roll in. Parking is to the front with a dedicated space in an ample parking area and views of the village and Galloway hills across the harbour. Garlieston offers visitors excellent dining in the Harbour Inn and has a filling station with shop for those emergency essentials. Sandy shores and forest walks are to the rear of An Taigh Mara as well a shingle beach a stones throw away. The village is a haven for those seeking the peace and tranquillity of a quiet retreat with both sea and hills on the doorstep. The village bowling green sits on the waterfront and the village hall exhibits the Garlieston Secret War exhibition. Guest access The only restriction is the under-stair cupboard and the loft. The rest of the house is available. Other things to note Books, movies and a selection of family games are provided should you fancy a night in with feet up but no TV.
