A beautiful 1 bedroom, dog friendly cottage located in the heart of the tranquil Cumbrian village of Orton. Once described by Wainwright as one of Westmorland's loveliest villages, it lies on the Coast to Coat walk and is surrounded by breath-taking scenery. Located within The Yorkshire Dales, the Lake District is close by as are the Cumbrian towns of Kendal, Sedbergh, Appleby and Penrith. There is a local pub, an excellent shop/post office, a cafe and a even a Chocolate Factory with tearoom! The space Cumberland cottage is an ideal base for couples wanting to relax and enjoy the beautiful surrounding area by foot, visit nearby towns, or venture into the stunning Lake District National Park. You will find maps, walking guides and numerous leaflets in the cottage to help you plan your stay. We also have a detailed Cottage Information File and a Comments' Book brimming with positive reviews from previous guests, many of whom have taken the time to recommend their favourite places to visit or eat out. One well behaved dog (or 2 smallish) welcome on request for a small extra charge. All we ask is that it is not allowed on the furniture or left unattended in the the property without our prior consent. Ground Floor: Open plan living/kitchen/dining space Well equipped kitchen with electric cooker and hob, microwave, fridge with ice-box, washing machine, iron and iron board. Dining table & 2 chairs, oak floor, original beams, leather settee and chair, picture window. Smart TV, DVD player, Superfast Wi-Fi selection of books, games & DVDs, electric wood-burning stove, oil central heating. 1st Floor: Extremely comfortable king size bed, bedside tables with lamps, en-suite wet room with underfloor heating and a powerful shower, small walk-in wardrobe, all bed linen and towels are provided. Outside: Enclosed sitting area with bistro table & 2 chairs. Ideal for catching the afternoon sun whilst observing village life. On road parking (Orton is a very quiet village and free parking outside the property can almost always be guaranteed). This is a non smoking property. Guest access Cumberland Cottage is self contained and has it's own small private garden with bistro table and chairs. Other things to note For or bigger groups of up to 8 people you could also book our 3 bedroom holiday let, Cumberland House next door (this is also listed on airbnb but please message me if you can't find it!). Unfortunately our insurance doesn’t cover the use of portable car chargers. There are public chargers very close by at Tebay services.
