Description
Located on a quiet road 30 min from Ithaca and 5 min from Treleaven Winery, our four season lakehouse is ideal for family time at the lake or a romantic getaway. The house is comfortable and thoughtfully furnished. With a sunny flat yard, deck, new lakeside shack, long dock, grass patio by the water, fire pit and rec room, there are lots of spaces to spread out. We face the afternoon sun and sunsets, and have deep, clear water. Sit by lake and feel your blood pressure drop! The space We do have strict quiet hours after 10pm! Sounds carry more by the lake, and our neighbors' houses are close. After 10, any talking outside, including the hot tub, will have to be a hushed volume. We know this can be difficult for groups of friends getting together. If you think this might be hard for your group, a different rental would be more appropriate. Our cottage was built in 1951 and is 1100 square feet. We bought it in 2020 and spent over a year and a half remodeling every room, converting the wood floor garage into a recreation room, and building a new lakeside shack by the shore. We've tried for the "looks like its always been there" design approach and used sustainable materials and energy options. The living room looks out to the lake with a large window and is open the kitchen. The kitchen is fully supplied, including a dishwasher. Next to the living room is a dining area and den/TV room, which has a new high quality queen size sleeper sofa and curtains to create privacy. The main bedroom has a new queen size bed and a large window facing the lake, and the second bedroom has two twin size beds with new mattresses. The bathroom has a shower/tub combination and there is a washer and dryer. We have drinkable filtered well water. In the back yard we have a new deck with a table, chairs and gas grill. The flat yard is a nice place for yard games and we have a fire pit with supplied wood. There are about twenty steps to reach the shoreline area, which is very few compared with most Cayuga lake properties. The converted recreation room has a ping pong table, couch and chair, "vintage" boombox, and board games. At the shore there is a nice shady area in the summer for sitting and the new shack with a mini fridge, cozy/romantic lighting, couch and table. The dock extends out to a deep section of the lake and is wonderful for jumping into the water. We have kayaks, paddle boards and life vests for guests to use. Guest access You'll need a car or ride to get to our cottage, but once you are there you may not want to leave. Our driveway is steep, but accessible by normal vehicles unless there is ice or snow. There is a parking spot along the street in front of the garage/rec room as well. Other things to note King Ferry, with a nice general store and gas station, is 5 minutes away and Treleaven winery is just down the road, and there are other wineries, breweries and ice cream shops nearby. Aurora is 15 minutes away and Ithaca is 30 minutes. Don's Marina is 1/4 mile to the south. The Finger Lakes Land Trust is acquiring a land preserve with woods and small waterfalls a mile or so to the south on the water, which will be a nice trip by kayak or paddleboard. The kayaks and paddle boards are not available late Nov. through April for cold water safety reasons. The neighbors along the lake are a nice community of people that know each other well. There are a couple neighbor's dogs that are allowed to wander around off leash. They are friendly, but you may encounter them occasionally in the yard.
