Komorebi (pronounced Koh-mo-reh-bee) meaning the play of light through the trees, is nestled in an oak grove. Featuring a cedar hot tub, mountain views and a railroad trestle with Disney history. Julian Historic Townsite and hiking trails are just minutes away. The space The Grounds: Arrive and kick your feet up on the large deck and listen to an array of birds greet you as you sip on some morning coffee or tea. Then continue to relax or set out for a light stroll to explore the private 20 acre grounds. At night stargaze on the back porch while listening to the soothing music of rustling leaves while soaking in a cedar hot tub. History: This location was carefully selected to be where Cahuilla and Kumeyaay Native American tribes. The rocks in the outdoor space have grinding holes (metate) once used for food preparation by the tribes. The Railroad: A Walt Disney's animator and former owner of the home, Ollie Johnston had the railroad commissioned. Ollie was a train enthusiast and was gifted by Disney parts of the train track that came directly from Disneyland. The steam engine that once ran on this property was named after Ollie's wife, "Marie E". Ollie contributed to films such as Pinnochio, Bambi, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Peter Pan, Robin Hood, and the list goes on. Main House: The large deck out back spans the width of the home and is perched over the train track trestle. Surrounding and behind the train track are oak trees opening to an expansive view of North Peak Mountain. Soak in the views from the cedar hot tub inset into the deck. Water: All water is natural running ground water and sourced from the on site well. Wildlife: The location is home to wildlife such as deer, wild turkey, blue jay, falcon, hawk, woodpecker, roadrunner, humming birds, and many other friends. Length of Stay: We gladly welcome longer stays. Please feel free to send an inquiry! Guest access The entire 20 acre parcel will be for just your group. Other things to note Please be sure to check the weather a few days prior to your stay. Even set directly on the 33 degree latitude in beautiful Southern California at 4,352 ft elevation we may experience a large variation in temperature throughout a single day. Temperatures in the summer can exceed 100 degrees and in the winter can drop below freezing with snow.
