Description
+ The Mountain House + A perfect base to explore Mount Rainier National Park in the summer or hit the slopes at White Pass Ski Area during winter. Our A-frame chalet is nestled between three mountains, Mount Rainier, Mount Adams and Mount St. Helens, which offers world-class hiking, climbing, scenic views, and year-round alpine adventure. After a day on the mountains, unwind and experience the small-town ambiance in Packwood or cozy up by a wood-burning fire. The space Our 1,360 sq ft A-frame chalet sleeps 6 in one large master bedroom, an open sleeping loft (no doors), and sleeper futon beds in the sunken living room. There is one full bath on the main floor and a half bath upstairs. The spacious kitchen is fully furnished with a dining area. We provide: + Roku-TV, a few books, and a variety of board games. + Wifi (Reliable and fast but sometimes, it can be disrupted) + Kitchen with cooking essentials including pots and pans, salt, pepper, and cooking oil + Propane Weber BBQ + Central air conditioner on the lower level and ductless mini-split in the upstairs + Locally roasted coffee, teas, and hot chocolate. + Washer and dryer onsite + Only Wifi & No Cellular Service + There is NO cell reception in this cabin. We do provide fast and reliable wifi so you can use wifi-calling. Cell service can be found in Packwood town (10 minutes away) in case our wifi is disrupted in severe weather. Originally built in 1968, our chalet is a work in progress as we continue to make upgrades. If you are looking for luxury, our modest cabin is not the best fit. Follow our journey @StaytheHouses on IG. Guest access Our chalet is located in the Timberline community neighborhood and is easily accessible from HWY 12. Up to 3 cars can park on our large driveway. ++ Mount Rainier National Park Access ++ Once roads open up late spring to fall, we are located 15 mins away from the Ohanapecosh entrance and about 1 hr to the popular Paradise or Sunrise areas. Please check the national park road status for up to date conditions. ++ Snow ++ During winter (generally Nov-Feb), snow is expected in Packwood. Like most mountain towns, all-wheel drive vehicles are recommended but the drive is generally tame. We will make every effort to keep our driveway and pathway clear but please be patient with local snow removal services. ++ Power Outages ++ Our rural small town Packwood can experience power outages caused by severe rain, wind, and snow. While this is out of our control, we will work with you to make your stay comfortable (and maybe even romantic). Our wood-burning stove will keep you warm, flashlights and lanterns to help you see, and emergency food and bottled water to sustain you. Other things to note ++ HOUSE RULES ++ Violators are subject to a $250 fine and immediate eviction. + No events or parties —no more than 6 registered guests at any time. + No smoking, fireworks, or discharge of firearms. + No pets + Quiet times after 10pm + Do not move furniture and decor objects + Do not tamper with outdoor security cameras + Do not leave any food or trash outside + Use bed sheets for sleeping on sofa beds + Sensitive Toilets & Plumbing + Our plumbing and septic system is delicate —please only flush 1-ply toilet paper provided and human waste. We also don’t have a sink garbage/food disposal, so please discard leftover food waste into the trash can. Fixing a septic clog is an upwards $1000 charge, so please remember to abide by these rules! You will lose your security deposit and be charged the difference for any septic backup. ++ Wildlife & Nature ++ We do our best to keep pests away but you are out nested in the woods and mountains. You might see critters from spiders and ants to eagles and elk, with many things in between. Do not leave any food or trash outside! ++ Amenities ++ We provide the basics for your stay including fresh linen, towels, shampoo, conditioner, body soap, hand soap, toilet paper, dish soap, oil, salt, and pepper. For extra comfort, please bring your own extra towels, cooking ingredients, bottled water, and blankets. ++ Security ++ To protect our guests, Ring security cameras are present on the front porch and back door. Please do not tamper with these cameras.
