Description

Cooper Mountain Cabin - A secret forest, 25 minutes from Portland. You didn't come to the PNW to stay in a neighborhood. Wake up in a private forest on 15 wooded acres. This is what a real PNW escape actually feels like-and groceries are five minutes away. • 2 forest-view balconies perfect for slow mornings • Fire pit & long evenings under the trees • Chef's kitchen for gathering and celebrating • Perfect for families, friends, reunions & retreats • A peaceful home base for Oregon adventures The space Cooper Mountain Cabin is a secret forest inside a bustling city. Set on 15 private acres of native Oregon woodland, this is the kind of place that does something to you the moment you arrive. The road disappears behind you. The trees take over. The pace of the day slows down and that feeling doesn't leave until you do. A House With a Story: Built in 1976 and thoughtfully reimagined, the cabin has a character you can't manufacture. Heavy timber pole beams anchor the main living area. A sunken conversation pit invites people to actually sit down and stay a while. Hand-built cabinetry - painted, not replaced - gives the space an authenticity that newer builds just don't have. We layered in warm textures, natural woods, and modern finishes, but we let the bones do the talking. The result is something that feels like it grew here rather than landed here. Summer at Cooper Mountain: PNW summers are the best-kept secret in the country: long days, warm light, and that deep saturated green that makes everything feel alive. Two newly rebuilt decks give you front-row seats to all of it: slow mornings with coffee in the shade, afternoons in the trees, evenings that stretch on longer than you expect. When the light finally fades, the fire pit pulls everyone together. The forest wraps around you. There's nowhere else you need to be. When you're ready to come inside, open a bottle from one of the nearby Chehalem Mountain wineries and settle in. We have a curated PNW film list -The Goonies, Twilight, Portlandia, Sleepless in Seattle, Gravity Falls - for exactly that kind of night. The Chef's Kitchen: This is where groups live during their stay. Full chef's kitchen with granite countertops, stainless appliances, and a coffee bar. We stock it with welcome snacks, coffee, and tea so you're not running to the store the moment you arrive -though the store is only five minutes away when you need it. Made for the People You Most Want to Share It With: The cabin sleeps up to 12 across five bedrooms and is especially well suited for multi-generational families, friend group getaways, and celebrations where people actually want to be present with each other. This cabin has been a labor of love for our family - renovated with care, tended by hand, and opened to guests because we couldn't imagine keeping it to ourselves. Guest access Experience the solitude of the cabin. • Private gravel road leading to the home • Large concrete parking pad accommodating 6+ vehicles • Easy, contactless, keyless entry • Well-lit entry with motion-sensor lighting • Entry includes 3–4 steps down; the home has multiple interior stairs Location notes- • Approximately 36 minutes from Portland International Airport (PDX) • About 25 minutes to downtown Portland • Roughly 15 minutes to Nike World Headquarters and Intel A car is recommended if flying in, though Uber and Lyft can reach the property with advance guidance. Other things to note A Peaceful Forest Sanctuary: This is a place to truly slow down and reconnect. The cabin is best suited for guests who value quiet evenings, meaningful conversation, and time unplugged in nature. We strictly maintain a peaceful environment - loud outdoor events and unauthorized gatherings are not permitted. While we are not a party house, we do welcome quiet, pre-coordinated gatherings like bridal showers, baby showers, or family dinners for our overnight guests. If you are interested in hosting a small, respectful event during your stay, please message us in advance so we can ensure it's a good fit for the property. Pricing & Arrival: Your checkout total already includes our professional cleaning fee and all guest service fees - no surprises. When available, we offer flexible arrival and departure add-ons: Early check-in after 3:00 PM: $50 Half day check-in as early as 10:00 AM: $150 Lazy day checkout up to 4:00 PM: $150 All early or late checkout requests are based on availability and must be approved before guaranteed. For dates beyond nine months out, just send us a message and we'll open them up. Cancellations: The cabin typically books around 30 days out, so rebooking canceled dates on short notice can be difficult. We recommend confirming travel plans carefully or purchasing travel insurance. If we're able to rebook your dates at equal or greater value, we'll do our best to offer a partial refund. Forest & Wildlife: As a guest on 15 acres of woodland, you're a temporary neighbor to Oregon's native wildlife. Encounters with insects, bees, and other critters — especially near the fruit trees — are a natural part of the experience. You may spot squirrels, deer, raccoons, owls, garter snakes, and occasionally coyotes. We've never had concerning encounters, but awareness is part of staying in nature. Caring for the Cabin: We put a lot of love into this place and appreciate guests who treat it the same way. Dark washcloths are provided for makeup removal - we'd love to keep the white towels white. If your group needs extra linens beyond your confirmed guest count, just message us in advance so we can coordinate the setup. We understand that small mishaps can happen. If a dish breaks or a spill occurs, please let us know right away so we can assist with a quick fix or replacement for the next guest.
