The Charming Thistle House

Welcome to The Thistle House, built in 1830, named in honor of Chardon, the French word for “thistle.” We invite you to enjoy a spacious 3 Bdrm/1 loft, 2 full bath home in the heart of Geauga County. Nearby restaurants, shops, parks, walking trails, golfing, festivals & more will make you want to stay longer. We look forward to hosting you and suggesting anything from a great restaurant to a fun part of Northeastern Ohio to explore. Ask us for suggestions and recommendations; we’d love to help! The space We can’t wait to host you! Breakfast: We provide a half dozen fresh farm eggs from our chickens and a homemade zucchini bread. Also, small milk, juices, coffee, tea, an assortment of breakfast cereals and basics in the kitchen like olive oil, salt, pepper, spices, condiments and more. This lovely home was built in 1830. We have had the honor to update and maintain her. There’s a great living room with cable smart TV, 4 rooms with beds (downstairs master has a queen bed with en suite, 2 full beds in the back bedroom and upstairs are the third bedroom with a queen bed and a final separate sleeping space at the top of the stairs with a twin trundle bed (2 twin beds or converts to king). Downstairs is a desk, large full first floor bathroom, second bathroom off kitchen, eat-in kitchen with stainless steel appliances, full basement laundry, and mud room. High speed wifi throughout the whole house. Outback we have a lovely outdoor table, chairs, lounging couch with a propane grill. The shed with a garden is where I have veggies for you to pick in the Summer and a fire pit with chairs and firewood. You’ll find a little bit of peace in the backyard that is carved into a private rocky nook, once a stone quarry! It’s quiet and calming in the backyard. We know you’ll love it as much as we do! Guest access The whole property is yours to enjoy. Let us know if you need anything. We will always be around if needed. We maintain the gardens, lawn and snow removal, so we may be around to say hello! Other things to note The main floor has the side entrance, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, dining room and living room. The sleeping space at the top of the stairs on the second floor doesn’t have a door on it and is, therefore, open to the stairway landing. The upstairs master bedroom has a door for privacy. Enjoy the outside backyard space; it’s magical! There’s the shed key right inside the side entrance for the outdoor cushions, outside toys and bikes. Pick some veggies or herbs I have growing there, have a BBQ, or enjoy a little campfire (please extinguish completely when you are done). Cheers!
