Heated Pool is open! Hot tub open all year! Fully equipped RV is parked in the driveway of our Pool Barn. RV sleeps 6, has bath w/shower, stove, microwave, heat & A/C, & running water all year. We are located minutes from the sand beaches of Indiana Dunes on Lake Michigan. Hiking in the Dunes National Park along the Little Calumet River and the historic Bailley homestead is only 1 block away. You may also use our large pool, hot tub, grill, campfire, and playground area. ***We are taking the extra precaution to sanitize everything between every stay*** IndianaDunes website is a great resource for why visit our area. The Indiana Dunes has over 3.5 million visitors each year! The Pool Barn Camper is 2009 26' with a tip out and sleeps 6-8. It has been modified to endure the cold weather and is available all year! There is a master bedroom with a Queen size bed. There is another Full size bed in the back behind a curtain. Both the queen and full mattresses are new August 2019. The couch and the dining seating each fold into Twin sized beds. The twins are each meant for 1 person. We have had some sleep 2 on them though. The camper includes a bathroom with sink and shower. It has a frig, freezer, stove, and microwave. There is also a toaster and a Keurig for coffee. All the cookware, dinnerware, and silverware is provided too. A roku smart tv allows you to access YouTube, sign in to your Netflix or Prime Movies account and more. The water lines and bottom of the camper are heated for camping all year! Please remember a Camper with AC, heat, and comforts of home is much more comfortable than a tent, but it is a relatively small space. It isn't ideal for large people or groups to just hang out. A camper is great for enjoying the outside and still have a comfortable safe place to sleep and get out of the weather. So let me tell you about outside... The large 20x40 inground pool has several loungers. Like a resort Pool, it is only 5 foot at the deepest so not suited for diving, but great to have your own space when sharing, great for children, and for water volleyball. We have floaties, goggles, snorkels, and plenty of towels too. The pool area has night lighting and torches to keep the bugs away while enjoying a night swim. We keep the water heated so it is still refreshing on hot days and yet comfortable on cool evenings. Weather permitting, the Pool is open approximately May 1 to Oct 1. We provide bath towels. It is a good idea to bring your own towel for the pool, hot tub, and beach. When it is too cold for the pool, or you just prefer hot water, enjoy the hot tub, kept at 102 degrees. Enjoy the still water or turn on the jets! The hot tub seats 8 and is open all year! There is large grill near the hot tub and firepit which is shared with the Pool Barn guest. There is now also a separate grill by the Camper just for Camper guests if the main grill is being used. The campfire area has plenty of seating space and abundant firewood available at no additional charge. There is now also a portable fire pit just for camper guests if the main campfire is being used by Barn guests. If we are home we'll even get the fire started for you. The playground area has swings, slide, tree house, and hammock. Bring your bikes! We are on the Duneland Prairie Bike Trail. Great trails next door in the Dunes National Park for hiking or running too. I may even go with you if you'd like the companionship. We also have a canoe and 2 kayaks available to take a river trip or use on Lake Michigan for only $25 per boat. We will even transport them for you for another $20. And of course, we are only 3 miles from the sand beaches of the Indiana Dunes State Park and Porter Beach on Lake Michigan. Enjoy a morning stroll. Take in the sunset and see the Chicago skyline on a clear evening. Bask in the sun and take a swim on a sunny day. Go hiking in the Dunes and do the 3 Dune challenge. The Pool Barn Camper is separate from the Pool Barn and our home so you have private access and may come and go as you please. You have private access to the interior of the Camper. You do not get access to the interior of the Pool Barn. The outside amenities such as pool, hot tub, grill, campfire, and playground are shared with the Pool Barn guests and our family. You'll have private access to the interior of the Pool Barn Camper. You will not have access to the interior of the Pool Barn. If you need us or need anything, just call or text. The outside amenities are all shared with our family and the Pool Barn guests. If the weather is nice, we may join you in the pool or around the campfire. We'll also likely water the garden and landscaping and do pool maintenance in the morning too. We are quiet though so you can sleep late if you choose. The "Pool Barn" is not located in a subdivision. We have 1 acre on the edge of town and the neighbors all pretty much keep to themselves. The Duneland Prairie Trail runs in front of our home for biking and hiking. It winds in and through the woods for many miles. There are many other bike trails in the area too. A block away is Indiana Dunes National Park, Bailly Homestead and Chelburg Farm with walking trails, a bit of history, a nature center, Maple Sugar Fest and Harvest Festival. The Little Calumet River is also only a block away and offers some of the best Steelhead fishing in the country. The Indiana Dunes sand beaches of Lake Michigan are only minutes away by car or bike including Porter Beach, the Indiana Dunes State Park and Indiana Dunes National Park. Downtown Porter is only 1/2 mile away and offers great authentic Mexican cuisine at Santiago's, great bbq ribs at Wagner's, as well as a couple pubs, and a few churches. Just over the tracks is Chesterton, with several boutique shops, dining experiences, and a Saturday European market too. Grocery and fast food are just a couple of miles away. Our population is roughly only 14,000 but over 3.5 million visit the Indiana Dunes each year. The Indiana Dunes National Park ranks seventh among the National Park Service's top attractions nationwide. To learn more about the opportunities our area offers, see IndianaDunes website. We are about an hour from Chicago or South Bend. We have plenty of parking for extra vehicles, RV's, and boats in a hotel parking lot across from us. The South Shore Line offers commuter train service to and from Chicago and South Bend. Coach USA offers bus service to and from both Midway and O'Hare airports. There are a couple taxi services as well as Uber to get around town but most people have their own vehicles. Why do we charge for extra people and charge a cleaning fee? We are just asking you to cover our costs. We wash the bed linens, bathroom towels, pool towels, and make sure everything is clean between every stay. More people also means more upkeep of the common areas. We want you to enjoy the same cleanliness (or better) that you expect in a nice hotel. We have a dog. He stays in our house which is separate from the Pool Barn. Remington is a black German Shepherd. His bark can be a bit scary but he loves people. He gets let out on occasion and may bark for a minute, but he is friendly if you are too. If you don't like dogs, the Pool area is fenced and can close the gates to keep him away from you. Since we are located just South of Lake Michigan, there are numerous trains and highways that run near us to get around the lake. Most people tell us that the highways and trains don't bother them. However, if you're new to camping and a light sleeper especially in new places, you may want to use ear plugs. There should be a box of them on the kitchen counter.
