Teapot Cottage - a step back in time

STEP INTO THE PAST in our authentic and charming 1950's "LIVING MUSEUM". NO WiFi or tv, so ENJOY the vintage record player, books, board games and dress-ups. EXPLORE local free natural HOT-SPRINGS or SOAK in the garden FIRE-BATH - stunning farm/bush/mountain/starlight views. WANDER beautiful bush walks, beaches, lakes and river-beds. TAKE A DAY TRIP - 1 hr south to glaciers, 1 hr north to Hokitika. TOUR the property with FRIENDLY HOSTS. NO CLEANING FEE. The space Cute 1030s built "grandma's" cottage, complete with typical NZ vintage memorabilia, down to the the last teaspoon. Ideal for those interested in an experience of "the olden days", so switch off your phone and unwind. Vintage puzzles, games, books and dress-ups for those West Coast rainy days. Very cosy fire. Beautiful outside fire-bath - perfect for star-gazing while soaking. Kid-friendly with cot, highchair, toys, swings, play-hut, and bush campfire for roasting marshmallows. Our very friendly dog Mello, may visit, hoping for you to throw his stick. This is an old house with old-fashioned quirks that may not be everyone's "cup of tea", such as a bathroom just outside the main part of the house and woolen carpets and blankets. On State Highway 6 but generally pretty peaceful. We have another Airbnb at the back of property which shares this driveway. Guest access Teapot Cottage has it's own quarter acre yard but is part of a one acre property called Wildside, which also contains our home and another holiday cabin called Wildside Lodge. Each is about 30 metres from the other and have separate yards, though the driveway is shared. Other things to note BUGS: Typically for the West Coast, there are a few sand-flies (especially on overcast days) and mosquitoes in the summer, so bring repellent. FOOD: The village store in Hari Hari (2km away) but in the winter is closed by 4pm so you are best to buy what you need on your way here (Hokitika and Franz Josef have supermarkets). It is also a cafe during the day and has an off-licence for alcohol. There is also an award winning butchery open weekdays which does fish and chips on Friday evenings. Hari Hari Hotel does very basic pub meals as long as you are not late but Franz Josef or Hokitika/Ross have better options for dining. DOG: We have a very friendly stick-mad dog named Mello who would love to pay you a visit. Let us know if you are not comfortable with dogs. WIFI: Remember there is none in the cottage, though if you are desperate you can come to our home.
