Marshfield Guesthouse is the perfect place for a getaway on the river, a home base for those exploring the historic Colonial Triangle and a unique experience for those looking for an alternative to hotel lodging. Come enjoy the beautiful sunsets on the river! The guesthouse is located a short drive (30 miles) from Williamsburg, Yorktown and Jamestown! The space Marshfield Guesthouse is a studio apartment with sleeping loft located on the Ware River. The private apartment sleeps five and has a fully equipped kitchen making this a excellent retreat for couples, small groups and business travelers! We have kayaks and a canoe for you to enjoy exploring the river and marsh. We provide a tide chart in the guidebook so you can time your kayaking to high tide. The bed in the sleeping loft is a double bed and the couch also pulls out to be a double bed. The apartment also has a twin and a queen air mattress. We have a gas grill, picnic table and lawn games! Grill, kayak paddles and additional lawn chairs are located right inside the garage side door. The guesthouse is non smoking and no open flames. Thank you for understanding. Guest access Guests have access to the whole guesthouse and the entire yard including around the cottage (main house) and down by the river. We make every attempt to not use the garage and yard when we have guests so please enjoy the property especially the river sunsets. Other things to note We are a mother (Judy) and daughter (Amy) team. Judy lives onsite in the other building on the property and is available to cater you a delicious dinner or breakfast. Amy lives in Portland, ME and manages everything online. We clean the apartment ourselves to make sure it is perfect for you and to keep cleaning fees low. Please note, the guesthouse is on the 2nd floor above the detached garage and the main bed is in a sleeping loft accessible by library ladder. Judy is a personal chef and caterer so why not make your stay even more enjoyable with a catered meal made especially for you or a cake if you are celebrating. Please let us know if you would like to order a meal about a week before your stay. We offer in guesthouse massages by a licensed massage therapist. An hour massage is just $75. If you would like a massage please let us know early so we can book it with our massage therapist as her schedule can fill up. The washer and dryer is located in the garage below the guesthouse. Please ask before use and bring your own detergent. In addition to the washer and dryer, the grill, additional outside chairs and the trash cans are behind the garage. We are on a tidal river and marsh. We provide a tide chart so you know when the tides are high for paddling. Please note this is a non smoking property which includes smoking, vaping, hookah and 420. This also includes the use of candles, incense or other open flames. Any violation will result in a $250 cleaning charge. Thank you for understanding. We are a 2 hour drive to Virginia beach.
