Description

The cottage is roomy, warm and comfortable. Oh, I forgot to say charming as well. Guests can enjoy all amenities, relax on the deck, walk around the farm and we're on site to help with any information required. The space If it's peace and quiet you are seeking then this is the cottage for you. Cosy and self contained, this is the ideal place to relax after a busy day at one of the magnificent far north beaches or a trip to Cape Reinga. The covered deck offers shelter from the elements as you sip a glass of wine and watch the bird life on the Monet Replica Pond whiie your steak sizzles beside you on the gas BBQ. Don't be put off by winter - it's not usually cold here anyway but we provide loads of firewood for the attractive wood burning freestanding fireplace so you will be toasty warm and cosy while you relax in front of the TV, watch a DVD or play a game of scrabble. It's great fun and very easy to dig up Tuatuas on Ninety Mile Beach. Bring them home and eat, steamed - delicious with fresh bread and butter and a cold beer. The well equipped kitchen makes meal preparation easy and it's not far to local restaurants for sit down service or takeaways if that's your preference. The large refrigerator and ample shelving allow guests to shop in advance for self catering. Free WiFi is available along with TV and a good selection of DVD's. Ducks and herons visit the pond regularly and a delightful range of birds flit to and fro amongst the trees. Our own family of 5 ducks provide endless entertainment as they go about their daily business. Stroll amongst the King Protea flowers grown for the export market or pop over the bridge and visit the horses. Rabbits, hares, quail, turkeys and various other small wild creatures will pop up and surprise you every now and then adding to your experience of kiwi rural life. Protea Park cottage is near to the east coast beaches, Rarawa and Henderson Bay, fantastic for diving, fishing, swimming and surfing. And it's not far to 90 Mile Beach on the other coast and chances are you will spot herds of wild horses on your way. The East coast beaches are very special with Rarawa having almost white sand while the sand on 90 Mile Beach is golden. It's an easy drive to Cape Reinga on sealed roads with little other traffic. Enjoy the wonders of Northland - take side trips to Spirits Bay, Te Hapua, Taupotupotu, Parengarenga, Scotts Point, the Bluff. Guest access Everything in the cottage is for your use. We have boogie boards which you can borrow to play in the water. Guests are welcome to stroll the property, visit the horses and we welcome any questions about the beautiful protea flowers we grow for the export market. Other things to note Two night minimum applies at public holidays
