Description
The Pirate's Rest is a stunning tiny bach, just 100m from beautiful Pauanui beach. Enjoy sea views to the Alderman Islands from inside or at your personal slab bar on the wraparound deck. This bach features an open-plan living area, one bedroom, and a bunk pod, ideal for couples or a small family (2 adults and 2 children) wanting to experience unique off-grid living. You're also within walking distance of playgrounds, a boat ramp, a supermarket, and local restaurants. The space This is true tiny home living. It's built to the side, but independent of a main batch with a floor area of 35 m2 and an additional 15 m2 of wrap around decks. Designed with a nautical theme complete with brass fittings and lighting, as well as portal windows in the bunk pods. Although the bunk pods are designed with kids in mind, the mattresses are super comfy and are 203 cm long. The top bunk is very spacious, the bottom one has a low height and is fine for sleeping, but it's pretty cosy — just like life on a ship! The space is full of recycled rimu, red oak ceilings, 100 year old rimu doors with stained glass, 2000+ year old swamp kauri shelves and hand crafted wooden features such as the bottle lamp and 4 m slab macrocarpa bar with inlaid shells and liquid glass finish. The furniture is all hand made from 25 mm plywood for maximum durability and storage. We hope you will enjoy our treasure and appreciate the work that has gone into creating a home which is a work of art rather than 'just a room'. That you and your loved ones will embrace the tiny living, semi off-grid experience by the seaside. The Pirate's Rest is featured in 'Tiny Living Magazine UK'. Guest access Park at the end of the cul-de-sac by the bollards on the grass, and walk just 30m to the bach. Please note, there is a main dwelling next door. You’ll have full access to the tiny bach, which features double glazing and tinted, frosted windows for added privacy. Other things to note The property is off-grid and powered by solar energy. As a result, cooking and hot water are gas-operated, and 240v appliances are limited. The 240v supply comes from an inverter connected to batteries, so to conserve energy and avoid overloading the system, please refrain from bringing high-energy devices like hair dryers. You can charge your phones and laptops using the USB ports on the reading lights or available power points.
