Jasmine house, Town of Skyros

Jasmine House : Lovely house located in the upper part of Chora of Skyros, between the ancient fortress and the uphill paved streets for pedestrian use only: The house is renovated with almost all its ancient traditional elements intact. It accommodates 3 to 4 persons. The space The main entrance of the house leads through a small courtyard covered by jasmine into the open plan dining area, the kitchen (the dining table, the counter and the sink are made out of Skyrian marble) and to the bathroom (with shower). A few stone steps lead into the oldest part of the house, a unique space with a loft. This wooden loft with a mattress of 120 cm width, accessed by a small staircase, was once the bedroom as per the traditional architecture of the island. From the dining room a wooden staircase leads upstairs to the second bedroom (double bed 140cm width) and to a second small bathroom (with shower). Air condition keeps the two bedrooms comfortable during hot weather. The small terrace is overlooking the courtyard and the street that leads up to the fortress. Please note that the bedroom upstairs has no door leading to the staircase coming from the dining area, however privacy in the room is protected by the way the staircase is constructed. Linen and towels are provided, but not beach towels. Pets are not admitted. In just 10 minutes from the house (20 minutes to return), stretches the long beach of fine sand Magasià. It can be reached on foot via a beautiful staircase with a stunning sea view. The house is within walking distance from the village centre, where you will find the bank, post office, groceries, taverns and cafés. Cars and mopeds must stay on the parking areas, in a distance of 100mt the one and 200mt the other from the house. The whole village is actually a pedestrian area. The house is not suited for a wheelchair. Skyros island is very popular to walkers who make beautiful walks by the sea and in the countryside and stroll through the narrow streets. Skyros has been inhabited since the time of antiquity. Excavations of archaeologists discovered at "Palamari" in the north of the island a fortified settlement of the Bronze Age with impressive walls. In Skyros you will meet also the Skyros horse (Equus caballus skyriano), a small rare breed that survives from antiquity . Guest access The guests will have access to the whole house with all its amenities, to the wifi internet, to the electric equipment (cooker, oven, fridge, washing machine, toaster, kettle, filter coffee maker, hair dryer, iron, vacuum cleaner, a/c, 2 fans).
