Restored camp nestled in the Maine woods
Our little camp is ready for your rest and relaxation on Graham Lake, Maine. Quiet setting, 15 miles from Ellsworth and 24 miles from Mount Desert Island. Great for adventuring to Blue Hill and Schoodic Peninsulas. Escape the island crowds and experience Maine how locals do...upta camp! Lovingly restored and available for limited weeks. Now available for winter bookings! The space This is a little camp situated on Graham Lake, in Mariaville, Maine. Graham is 26 miles long, shallow and perfect for kayaking and experiencing a quiet lake atmosphere. In winter, there is ice fishing and snowshoeing. Loons, Eagles and many species of fish make this lake home. The lake is a working lake, with a small hydro damn at distal end, and unique as its shallowness deters high speed boating and jet-skis. This quiet, family-oriented area is meant for a couple or small family intent on star gazing and reading, fire-fly catching and bird watching, outdoor fires and exploring the area. If intent on late nights and a party atmosphere, this property is perhaps not your best choice. A bunk room with two single beds and a bedroom with a queen bed make camp cozy. There is a small dock with the use of 3 kayaks (one double) included in stay. The Otis General store is just a few miles away for necessities. The camp has both a heat pump and a propane woodstove for year round heating and cooling. The camp does require water conservancy related to our small well and desire to be as eco-conscious as possible. In the fall months, water levels of the lake recede, and the area in front of camp becomes an estuary where birds migrate, and water access is still possible but is a short walk from the property. In the winter. Snow shoes are available for winter exploring. If visiting during hunting season, please bring blaze orange for your walks. In late spring, black flies can be a not so welcome sign of spring. We provide bug spray! Also included is a fire pit, a WEBER bbq and an OUTDOOR shower in summer. Guest access There is WiFi, and decent cell phone service for most if you have to have your phone on (pity!). There is a book exchange, please feel free to take one and leave one if you have one. The use of 3 Old Town kayaks with life jackets is available. Use at own risk. Kitchen amenities include a propane stove top and large convection table top oven, toaster, tea kettle and French Press and a Coffee maker as well as a refrigerator and small full kitchen. Weber propane BBQ and one tank of fuel also included. We have hard water that is filtered and also provide filtered water for consumption (2 jugs). Other things to note This camp has experienced a complete renovation, and is one of the first camps to be constructed in area in 1960's. We are in water conservation mode meaning we ask showers be brief and ask guests be mindful of older well. If visiting in late fall through early spring, camp road can be muddy, snowy and icy. 4 wheel drive not required but winter tires and ability to navigate Maine snowy conditions a must. If there is a snow storm, power and wifi could be disrupted.
