The thatched cottage, built in the middle of the 19th century, it was owned by the Duke of Oldenburg until 25 years ago and is located on the edge of the Holstein Switzerland Nature Park on an idyllic property, surrounded by forest and a meadow. As soon as you enter the house, you can feel the lived history. We have taken care to preserve or restore the old building fabric of 1860 as much as possible. For example, the old doors with iron fittings are still available. Visible half-timbered beams, wooden plank floors, original lattice windows and interior walls with clay plaster accentuate the character. The spacious hall represents the center of the house. With a generous ceiling height of just under 3 meters for cottages of this type and the wonderfully radiant morning sun, it is the perfect place to gather family and friends at the large table and enjoy meals together. The piano is happy to have musicians young and old. Immediately adjacent is the kitchen, which was rebuilt and modernized in 2021, with access to a spacious sun terrace paved with old granite stones. On a total living space of approx. 140 square meters, there is also a cozy living room with a fireplace and three bedrooms, one of which is a passage room. A family with several children or a group with up to seven adults can be accommodated comfortably here. A bathroom (with bathtub and underfloor heating) is accessible from two sides. Guest access Our guests are allowed to use the entire house. Our private belongings are kept in locked cabinets. Other things to note You will search in vain for media entertainment via television or radio, instead you can enjoy birdsong and babbling brooks from early to late. Cell phone reception can also be weak in some places. Here you can simply not be available with a clear conscience. However, there is a fiber optic connection with WiFi in the house.
