Description
The Cuverie de Citeaux is an old wine cellar of the monks of Citeaux, completely transformed in 2013 into a contemporary and warm house. It is located in the heart of the Burgundy wine route, in a typical wine village, 3 km from Beaune. Although in the center of the village, it is surrounded by a pleasant enclosed garden in which there is a swimming pool. The space The 220 m² house is entirely on one level with the garden and pool. It has 4 double bedrooms (3 king size beds convertible into twin beds on request, 1 queen size bed) each with their own private bathroom. A 5th bedroom may be available in summer only, upon request. The 120 m² living room with 4.5 m high ceilings is the heart of the house. The living room, dining room and open kitchen areas are organized in this huge room around a large insert. The house was built on an impressive vaulted cellar. You will find a few bottles of wines selected by us, accessible in "open cellar" service. Its history: The house was once a vat room, intended to house the press and the vats. Built by the monks of Citeaux in the 17th century. It was used to make wine until 2006. Its historical character and its location in the heart of the village prevented its renovation into a modern vat room. The building was thus transformed into a house, preserving the large volumes, the cellar, and the atmosphere of the place. Guest access The house is accessible by car. Parking in the property or a few meters in the village (free). Private pool and enclosed garden. Other things to note We can arrange cellar tours, tasting classes. Home catering service on request
