Location and history The Borgo San Pancrazio property is located on the western slopes of the Rio Grande Torrent Valley of Amelia, a parallel Tiber valley, which from a height of 300 m above sea level descends to a height of 120 m. Through this valley there was a consular street (the Amerina) of the 3rd century BC, which later represented the so-called Byzantine Corridor in the 7th century. DC., connecting Rome to Ravenna. The tower was part of a security system built to protect that hallway. The source of mineral water still active today was probably the reason why a Roman settlement arose, which was followed by other Roman settlements and villas. From here come the many ancient remains, which have been partly reused in the later buildings of San Pancrazio. In the Middle Ages, Castrum San Pancrazii was built, a castle with surrounding houses and a small church. The walls and the door did not survive, but the main complex of San Pancrazio belongs to this period. At the beginning of the 18th century the repeatedly destroyed buildings were rebuilt to the likeness of a castle and is more or less the shape in which it presents itself today. The church has also been rebuilt. After the dissolution of the Papal State at the beginning of the 19th century, the village was inhabited by several farmers with their families who worked there in the middle of the century and who for their needs built a barn, a yard, a piggy bank and other annexes as they still present today after a careful restoration.
