My Cape Cod country-style home is in a quiet, secluded woodland setting, yet is just one mile from multiple shopping areas (Macy's, Meijers, Target, Marshall's, etc.) and many restaurants. Michigan State University is 5 miles away; the State Capitol complex is about eight miles. I have enjoyed housing actors and international students in the past.
