Applecross Cottage at Tonto Creek~Fish, Hike, Spa!

Beautiful chalet cabin in the Tonto National Forest! Tonto Creek is right across the lane, with trout stocked numerous times a week. To maximize the views, the main house with master and ensuite is upstairs. Downstairs, via a spiral staircase, is the other bedrooms with full bathroom. Recently remodeled, the chalet offers... * A master bedroom with comfortable Queen bed and an ensuite right off the master, complete with tiled shower. Feel free to contact me via the pictured info. *Other bedrooms are downstairs. Private bath that features an antique clawfoot tub, pulled from an old house in Tombstone. Queen bed in a private bedroom. Twin over twin daybeds in the suite area. Pops up to become a King, or leave as 2 twins. Features a TV/DVD and electric fireplace and bifold doors for privacy. We may be able to accommodate them with a small fee!*** * Back up in the main house: fully stocked kitchen with full sized stove, fridge, microwave, RO water and a dishwasher, coffee via drip, Nespresso Vertuo, pour over or french press (coffees supplied!). Fast and reliable WiFi is provided via Starlink. Cell signal amplifier installed as well. * Living room with flat screen TV, DVD & Soundbar, free WiFi, and a Jøtul Swedish Fire Stove operated via a wall mounted thermostat (has real flames). Skylights flood the whole room with light or watch the stars from the sofas! * Sunroom/Dining room offers a 6 person dining set where you can enjoy your meals and take in the gorgeous view. AC provided to keep you cool in Summer, heater for winter coziness. * Large deck with dining set for 6, sofas, umbrellas and firepit. Relax and enjoy the expansive views of the surrounding forest. Perfect for a 3AM milky way viewing! * HOT TUB: Follow the path to a hot soak in the forest! Path/terrain is uneven and loose footing to the far end of the property- bring flip flops. Feels very private and enchanting! Pool/beach towels and robes are provided. * Dogs allowed! Please let me know your dog's breed/weight BEFORE BOOKING, if in doubt. Select pet in occupancy, and then let me know about your pupper(s): their breed and weight. Two smaller dogs are allowed. Larger ones with an added fee may be considered, AND, we may refund that added fee if you leave the cabin in great shape, without any pup messes or damages! Just ask and I'll get you and your pal squared away! * Entire house keeps cool with an evap cooler during Summer and warm during Winter with the Jotul propane fireplace- just turn it on and watch the romantic flames! No fussing with smoky wood that may not light! * Large yard, almost half an acre! BBQ right out the kitchen door. Multi Lounging areas reached via little paths throughout entire property. Yard is fenced, but please keep your eye on the kids and furkids. Feel free to bring a small tent and let the kids CAMP OUT! There are small flat spaces here and there throughout the yard where they can "rough it"! PLEASE NOTE: For bookings over 60 days, I require a security deposit in the amount of 1 month's rent, to be paid offline. Due 14 days prior to check in. You must be at least 21 to book. Across the lane is the access to Tonto Creek, which is stocked with Apache, rainbow, brook, cutthroat, tiger, and brown trout! Hike along the creek down to the waterfall or lay amongst the wildflowers! If you don't like to fish, bring a small treat for the fish! They adore cheese! Access to Tonto Creek; the path is about 4 or 5 homes down (south). Hungry? Walk down to the Kohl's Ranch Lodge and have the best wood fired pizza and BBQ at Zane Grey! Or hand crafted cocktails at the saloon! Tour the charming grounds or go for a horseback ride while there! Having your wedding at the Lodge? Mention your Kohl's Ranch wedding and you can receive a discount when renting this property for wedding guests! A few miles up highway 260 is the Mogollon Rim Visitor Center with breathtaking views! This is your jumping off point for Willow Springs Lake and Wood Canyon Lake where you can rent a kayak or fishing boat for a day of lake fun. If you decide to stay home, there is still plenty of adventure to be found right in your yard. Look for the elk that like to rest amongst the rose brambles on the south side of the yard! Or explore the romantic old double swing or various little sitting areas around the property. Or just sit on the deck and keep an eye out for passing raccoons, javelina, deer, elk, fox, turkey, weasels, all kinds of birds...and even an occasional visit from a mountain lion or bear! PLEASE NOTE: Due to our unique, rural area, we are on SEPTIC. We must insist on a limit of 6 adults book for this property! *Owner reserves the right to deny bookings where the capacity exceeds the service's capabilities* We can not accommodate trailers and ATVs/UTVs are not allowed in the neighborhood. We are in a rural area with a small access road and limited turn around. It gets dark at night. We do have various lights around the property, however, we are a Dark Skies Community, so we can't light up too much. We do offer flash lights. Guest access Long driveway with gates at either end. Sorry, no RV parking; power lines are too low to get an RV down the lane safely! No electric car charging available. No trailers allowed due to small access road and no turn around. Other things to note There are a flight of stairs to reach the cottage. It is in a quiet neighborhood, far away from the hustle and bustle of modern life. While we do offer Wifi via Starlink, we recommend you unplug, explore the great outdoors and soak up the quiet! We request guests be at least 21 to book. ALSO, please remember; you are in a forest! If you are not the outdoorsy type, this may not be the location for you. It gets dark at night, wild animals scuffle about the property after dark and there will be bugs. While we remove the cobwebs, please understand that spidee can rebuild a web in under an hour. :)
