Welcome future Guests. We are a small family run Airbnb business offering several great homes and apartments. Our primary focus is: COMFORT, CLEAN & LOCATION. We are the owners of all of our properties and put much care and effort into them. The Macalester House II is a favorite! It’s a prime location and walking distance to Macalester College, neighborhood pubs, restaurants, coffee shops, quaint neighborhood grocery store & post office. Also, the University of St. Thomas, Concordia College, Hamline-Mitchell School of Law and Hamline University are all less than a 4-mile drive away. Our homes are always sparking clean & we use higher grade furnishings, mattresses & linens. NOT IKEA. This beautiful home is rich with charm throughout, gorgeous hardwood floors, brick accented fireplace, original farm style kitchen which is fully loaded and ready for cooking meals, and updated bathroom! To answer all guest’s Frequently Asked Questions and facilitate an easier decision-making process, we have included the following information for your confidence in choosing us for your stay in Saint Paul. 1. Is the home available on my requested dates? Yes. Our calendars are updated in real time. So, if Airbnb shows the dates are available, they are indeed available for instant booking. 2. Is this an entire home? Yes and no. This is a single-family home with a small studio apartment that is rented separately to a long-term renter upstairs. The space you will be staying in is the main portion of the home and has its own separate entry. You will likely never see the upstairs renter as there is its own entry in the back through a separate staircase to the apartment. 3. Can you describe the space and its function? You will park out front. There is never a problem with on street parking and there’s no charge. Walking up the front sidewalk you will walk up 3 steps and enter in the front door of the home which takes you directly into a sun-room connected to the living room. The home has lots of southern facing natural light that fills the main living space beautifully. As you walk through the living room it is connected to a dining room equipped for a family to eat or a great space to work. To your right is the entry into a hallway where there is a full bathroom and on either side down the hallway are two separate bedrooms with queen beds, a closet with wood hangers, laundry baskets, dresser drawers under the beds, suite case holders, and end tables with small fans and side lamps. The bathroom is small but functional. It has a tub/shower. Back to the dining room...if you continue towards the back portion of the home you enter the kitchen area. This is a quaint farm style kitchen with a lot of counter space, tons of natural light, electric stove/oven, microwave, dishwasher, double sink, and is fully loaded with dishes, cookware, pans, Tupperware, utensils and a Keurig coffee maker. We leave a starter pack of coffee pods for each guest. There is also a tea kettle for making hot water for tea. You have everything you need for cooking a meal. The backdoor off the kitchen goes out to a back-deck area overlooking the backyard. There is a charcoal grill and two chairs on the deck for your use. Occasionally our renter may use the backyard to let two rescue dogs run about. Our renter is extremely conscientious of our guests and does not leave the dogs out long. They are friendly dogs and such good boys! 4. Are there any stairs? There are three steps out side to get to the front door. The entire living space has NO stairs/steps. However, if you want to use the private laundry you will have to go downstairs to the unfinished utility room to wash cloths. There is a washer and dryer available at no extra cost to you. 5. How close is Macalester College? The closest starting edge of campus at the Athletic Fields and Track is exactly 6 blocks away. 6. How close is dining? There are many dining options, coffee shops, bars and other shopping conveniences such as a neighborhood grocery store, drug store and more all within 5-6 blocks. You will also be less than a mile from the Grand Avenue District where there is a plethora of dining and shopping. Get adventurous and go a Mike further to the Historic Cathedral Hill District where you will find even more dining and shopping. 6. Is there a discount for longer term stays? Airbnb automatically calculates the discounts we offer in the dates you select. We allow guest stays for as short as 3 days and as long as 90 days. 7. Can you tell me more about the overall location? This is where you want to be. Literally a few blocks from Macalester College and 5 minutes from the University of St. Thomas. Here you are centrally located to everything you could ever want yet nestled away in such a fantastic neighborhood full of tree lined streets and picture-perfect homes! You are walkable to several pubs, an ice cream parlor, restaurants, conveniences and more. You are within less than a 5-minute drive/Urber from the hustle and bustle of Grand Ave, Highland Village and the corner of Selby/Snelling. Here you will find a Whole Foods, a plethora of dining, shopping, vintage stores, antique shops and more. The energy of each of these areas are worth exploring. Take a 10-minute Uber to Cathedral Hill and enjoy more vibrancy and dining. The architecture is amazing! Do yourself a favor and stroll down Summit Avenue (just a 3-minute drive from this home) and enjoy some of the most amazing old mansions you have ever seen! Walk or bike along the Path on River Road for some amazing scenery just 5 minutes away. Go to Lower Town (a 10-minute drive/Uber) and enjoy Mears Park surrounded by dining and pubs. Often you will catch the food trucks, an art crawl or festival. Saturday and Sunday Mornings is the year-round St. Paul Farmers Market where you can enjoy seasonal farm fresh items, a hot dog and live music! 8. Can we have parties or large events? No events or parties of any sort at this property. 9. Can I smoke? Never inside the property. If you smoke, we ask that you step out back near the garage and properly dispose of your butts. 10. Can we have a pet? There is a 1 time $100 charge for a dog. We do not allow cats. No exceptions. This charge will need to be added to your billing and you must notify us immediately in your initial response that you have a dog, including what kind and how much it weighs. We will then apply the pet fee for you to accept payment on and it will be added to your overall Airbnb total. Our pet policy is that we will allow 1 dog under 45 pounds. However, use of the back yard is reserved for our long-term tenant only. If you bring a dog, you must walk them out the front door to the boulevard to do its business. We also expect that your dog’s “business” is picked up and properly disposed of in the outside can behind the garage. Dogs are not to be allowed in the backyard or on the furniture, beds or use blankets or pillows. We ask that you bring a lint roller and lint roll all furnishings etc. and sweep the floors for any dog hair upon your day of departure. Our cleaner will always do a very thorough cleaning after each guest who has a pet but we ask that all guests with pets pitch in on this prior to their leave. 11. Can you tell me more about the parking? Parking is easy. There is no charge to park on the street. This home is located in a quiet neighborhood and we always have parking right in front of the house just steps away from your front door/entry. We do ask that to respect our neighbors that you do indeed park on our side of the street directly in front of the home. 12. How many guests can stay here? While this is a 2 bedroom home with 2 queen size mattresses you may have a 5th guest if they don't mind sleeping on the couch or available air mattress that would need to be set up in the living room space. For the record the couch is wide and very comfortable. There is a small extra charge for more than 4 guests. See the fee section for this information. PLEASE NOTE ******This is a fully private space. As mentioned above there is studio apartment upstairs with its own entrance where 1 person and their two great rescue dogs live as long-term renters. Guests will have no interaction with our renter unless you see each other come or go when outside. Keep in mind that dogs will be dogs. Although we have never had a complaint, we want to disclose that you may hear them bark for a few minutes from time to time. Mostly when a guest first arrives to the home and they hear new noises. They typically subside their barking after couple of minutes. They are both old and don’t move around much.******** We hope we have answered all your questions so it's easy to choose our home for your stay. If there is a question that you still would like an answer to please send us an inquiry. Stick around because we are very attentive and answer questions quickly. Guest access All guests will have access to the entire unit. There is an apartment upstairs that a long term renter lives in. Other things to note * **This is a fully private space. There is second apartment upstairs with its own entrance where 1 person and their 2 rescue dogs as a long term renters. Guests will have little to no interaction with our renter unless you see each other come or go when outside. This property has a foundation foot print of approximately 1200 total finished square feet. Registration Details 20190004096
