The Buskirk School House is an early 19th century school house converted into a charming, two story dwelling located in the rural township of Hoosick, NY. Surprisingly spacious, the school house contains an open kitchen, dining and sitting room area, large bedroom, an office/den and two full bathrooms. This peaceful, country property is surrounded by 100 acres of farmland and includes multiple paths for walking through fields and woods. The space The appearance of the School House from the outside belies its spacious interior. From the outside, it looks like the one room school house it used to be. On the inside, however, there are two floors, both of which feel surprisingly large. On the entry level, there is a high-ceilinged room (the "Common Room") which serves as a kitchen, dining and living room. There is also an office/den off of the Common Room as well as a full bathroom with a shower. Stairways lead to the lower level where there’s a large bedroom with a queen-sized bed, desk, wall of cabinets and a closet. A sliding door leads to a full bathroom with a combination tub and shower. A washer/dryer is installed in a small room off of the bathroom. The School House was originally built prior to 1815. Most recently it has undergone a complete renovation in which its historic structure was painstakingly preserved. There is a charming aura of history throughout the house that is coupled with all the modern conveniences. Upon entering the School House, guests are astonished at its beauty. The most outstanding feature is the timber framed original structure with the hand hewn beams exposed. The furniture throughout the house (a mix of modern and antique), the art works and oriental rugs are all seamlessly blended together. The kitchen is fully stocked with cooking utensils, dinner ware and an assortment of appliances. The stove is located in a center island. A wide screen, wall TV is located in the bedroom with streaming of Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Disney+ and ESPN. High speed fiber optic internet is provided by Verizon FIOS (300 Mbps). There are red oak plank floors in the upstairs rooms, and cherry floors downstairs. A blue stone patio allows for enjoyment of the property outside with a propane fired barbecue and table and chairs. Views of farm fields are the prominent vistas seen from inside and outside the house. The School House is available for year-round rental. All seasons at the house are distinctive. In the fall, the vistas of the multi-colored foliage are breathtaking; winter is serene; spring is noteworthy for early blossoms; and in summer nature shows off its bounty with an abundance of flowering plants. Guest access There is parking for cars on the short driveway to the side of the house, defined by charming wood fencing. A large stone pathway leads to two stone steps up to the house entry door. The entire house and expansive mowed area surrounding the house are included in the rental and are easy to navigate. Other things to note High-speed fiber optic internet access is provided by Verizon FIOS with 300 Mbps Netflix, HULU, Disney Plus, ESPN and Amazon Prime are all included in the TV service. Pets are welcome for an additional fee of $15 per pet per night. I provide staples such as coffee, tea, salt, pepper, sugar, honey, spices, oil & vinegar. The fields surrounding the School House are owned by me and have all been conserved (meaning that they can only be used for agriculture but can never be subdivided and developed).
