Fab house: check! Summer paradise: check!
This family-friendly beautiful 3-bdr colonial from 1928 is located a short walk from Riverhead’s charming downtown. It's the perfect base for exploring all that the North and South Fork have to offer. There is a huge above ground pool in a massive yard with a private swing set and trampoline for the kids, plus an outdoor movie theater, a BBQ and a brand new deck with a 10 ft table ready for all your outdoor meals. It is truly a summer paradise with stunning bay, sound and ocean beaches close by. The ground floor features a sun filled dining room with a ten person farmhouse dining table, a newly renovated kitchen, a large living room and a sunroom both with fireplaces. The sunroom has a ceiling mounted hammock for max relaxation. Upstairs you will find a huge master bedroom with a king size bed, a second bedroom with a queen size bed, and a third bedroom with one full size bed and the option of another full size bed or a twin bed. All bedrooms are equipped with desks to facilitate work/school from home. The bathroom has both a shower and a bathtub. The original hardwood floors have been beautifully restored throughout the whole house. Big, beautiful windows light up every room in the house. The house has ductless AC's for great cooling in the summer. Toys and children’s books can be put out on request. Both the North Fork and the Hamptons are very close by with a ton to explore. We recommend having a car for you stay as there are so many places to see, although if you truly only want to rest up and enjoy the house and yard, both the Riverhead train station and the Hampton Jitney stop (bus line) are a short taxi drive away. The town and Peconic river is a five minutes walk away. The house is a short walk from the downtown of Riverhead and the Peconic River. Riverhead has a lot of great restaurants. The train station is one mile away. From North Brooklyn the drive is around 1 hr 25 minutes when you avoid rush hour. Riverhead has a fantastic aquarium (where you can watch the seals for free outside the main entrance), as well as an Outlet Mall, endless wineries with beautiful tasting rooms, antique shops, the Splish Splash water park, farms filled with kids activities, great restaurants and the beautiful Peconic River passing through the downtown area. A bunch of beautiful bay, sound and ocean beaches are a 5-25 min drive away. The nearby Indian Island Park has a beautiful beach, trails and lots of nature to explore. Indian Island Golf course is a 3 min drive away. South Jamesport beach is a fantastic bay beach with a playground and it is 10 min away by car. Reeves beach is another favorite beach of ours, on the sound side. It's a 12 min drive away. The location is superb for exploring both the North Fork and the South Fork (the Hamptons). There are a lot of cute towns to check out in the North Fork. Aquebogue, Jamesport, Mattituck, Cutchogue, Southold and Greenport, are all great. Hampton Bays is a 15 min drive away. The Ponquogue beach in Hampton Bays is the closest of the ocean beaches, and also our favorite. From there you can venture further east to Southampton, Bridgehampton, East Hampton, Sag Harbor and all the way to “the end of the world” in Montauk. All these places make for great day trips with their lovely downtowns and breathtaking beaches. Happy to provide local recommendations! 5 min drive to the closest bay beach, 12 min beach to a beautiful sound beach, and 17 min to one of the many gorgeous ocean beaches. So many options!
