Please read the entire listing before booking this cabin. Welcome to Beddington! Maine's smallest town (population 47) Kick back and enjoy true tranquility on 40 acres of organic blueberry barrens and pristine woodlands overlooking Narraguagus River Valley. Visit the many surrounding lakes and the Narraguagus River for fishing, swimming, and kayaking. Hike, bike, ski, snowshoe, snowmobile, ATV on any of the many trails. Take a day trip to Acadia NP or tour the spectacular Downeast coast. The Coyote Ridge Cabin features a full kitchen with running water (45 gallons of fresh, cold spring water), stocked with all the staples including oils, condiments, baking supplies, a French press, a refrigerator/freezer, a lobster pot, an outdoor gas grill, cell service for major providers- AT&T, Verizon etc. (no wifi), minimal solar electricity, a charging station for mobile devices and laptops, a queen sized fold-out couch, a spacious bed loft with a queen sized bed and a dresser, quality linens, an outdoor tub and an indoor tub for cooler months, a nice, clean outhouse, oil lamps, flash lights, head lamps, plenty of firewood, a fire pit, a wood stove, a canoe, two kayaks and two adult life jackets. Fishing poles, board games, books, quiet hiking, and ATV trails abutting the property. And from mid July til late August, all the blueberries you can eat! According to online maps: Acadia National Park - 1 hour 13 minutes Bar Harbor - 1 hour 21 minutes Ellsworth- 48 minutes Bangor - 51 minutes Canada - 1 hour 26 minutes I offer a linen change and full laundry to guests staying more than 7 days. If you're concerned that winter stays might be uncomfortable, rest assured that the cabin is a toasty, cozy little base from which you can explore the Downeast region. Or you can simply hunker down in front of the fire with a book and a hot drink and watch the snow fall. The entire 40 acres and beyond is yours to enjoy. Although I live on another remote part of the property, I will respect your privacy. Occasionally, I'll need to access the area around the cabin for cleaning or maintenance. I would be happy to meet you and acquaint you with the workings of the cabin. Or, if you prefer, you can let yourself in and make yourself at home. I am always available to answer questions by phone or in person 24/7. I tend to the cabin from time to time to recharge batteries, clean the outhouse, replenish water, haul wood, etc. so we might bump into each other occasionaly. I will be mindful of your privacy. Beddington is literally the smallest organized town in the state of Maine. Nothing much happens here.... which is what makes it so special. The cabin is located on the old Farnsworth homestead- settled in the early 1800's. The original granite foundations of the original structures are still remarkably intact. Dam Road meanders through bucolic woodlands down to the still-visible ruins of its namesake mill dam at the joining of the Narraguagus River and Beddington Lake. The forests are laced with a network of trails that meander by river banks, old cabins, peat bogs, and vast blueberry barrens. You just might see grazing moose, coyotes, fishers-(critters related to weasels), bear, deer, beavers, turkeys, eagles, hawks, owls, turkey vultures, water foul, bobcats, woodcocks, and rabbits. The surrounding lakes and streams support trout, salmon, large mouth bass, pickerel, and alewives. The shores and marshes of these waterways are lined with the handiwork of industrious beavers. ATV trails are easily accessible and the road is legal to ride ATV's on. All of the trails in the area eventually hook up with the famous Sunrise Trail. They meander through forests and barrens. They're well maintained, quiet, and clearly marked. Access a map online or consult the cabin copy. These same trails are open to hiking and mountain biking as well. The cabin is easy to get to and not that far from the main road (1/4 mile) I emphatically suggest guests with vehicles with low clearance take care when entering the property all year round. Well behaved, free-range dogs are very welcome. 2 max. Guests are responsible for damage caused by dogs, kids, or grown-ups. PETS MUST BE CRATED if left unattended for any amount of time at the cabin. No exceptions. If you don't have a crate, one will be provided. NO FLUSH TOILET. NO SHOWER. NO HOT TUB. NO WIFI. NO WASHER OR DRYER. NO EV CHARGER.
