Perched on a hill above the Village of Jeffersonville, Dancing Doe Estate, is a perfect marriage of country charm with the conveniences of small-town life for those looking for a country getaway while not being in an isolated location. The stately blue manor, boasts light-filled spaces, wrap around porch and generous room sizes to very comfortably fit up to 8 guests. **Please note that this is not a party house. No loud noises and music outdoors after 7pm, it is in a residential neighborhood.** Jeffersonville is located just 7 miles from the site of the original Woodstock Music Festival which is now home to the Bethel Woods Performing Arts Center. This 2-story home, built in 1910, has strong sturdy bones and has recently been updated with modern and designer finishes and fixtures while maintaining original wood detailing throughout. The front entrance has a wrap around porch that gets wonderful morning light. It’s a great spot to sip coffee or tea, sit on the rocker and just relax in the crisp morning air. Just inside, there is a formal entry that looks onto a dramatic wood paneled staircase and through a delicate and original ornate wood threshold into the dining room. The dining room has a large farm-style table comfortably sits 8 in fully upholstered chairs but with its leaves in place, can fit up to 12. Pop by one of the many local farmers markets and prepare your very own farm-to-table dinner. Through a pair of sliding pocket doors, the dining room opens up to the living room where the juxtaposition of style creates a very interesting and unique space. The room itself is modeled to be a getaway with its plush rug, oversized couch and vintage seating. Spin some records or watch a movie on Netflix with surround sound speakers. The focal point of the room is centered on a newly installed wood burning stove. Enjoy the cold winter nights sipping spiked hot chocolate and warm yourself by the fire. The room is yours to enjoy. Firewood can be purchased at the local gas station. Just on the other side of the living room, is the generously sized kitchen. With stainless steel appliances, dish-washer, ice maker and plenty of counter space. There is also a sitting area to visit with the chef and a tree hall to collect your oversized jackets and boots during inclement weather season. Just off the kitchen is a half bathroom with oversized laundry machines. The kitchen leads out to the back deck where you can get great views of the hills beyond Jeffersonville. A recent addition to the amenities is a hot tub that seats 7 people. By using the hot tub, guests take full responsibility for any bodily injury or property damage that may occur. Please use with care and respect our investment in this amenity we have provided for you. Just up the hill from the house is quaint elementary school from the 1930s, listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. During seasonal months enjoy a meal outdoors on the patio furniture or toast marshmallows over the outdoor fire pit. Back inside, as you take the staircase up to the 2nd floor, take a moment to admire the original stained-glass windows in the house and peek outside and you may catch some deer playing on the lawn outside. The main hall upstairs leads to 4 bedrooms and each bedroom is light-filled during the day and has blackout shades to pull down during the night. Each room has a queen bed with ample pillows and is thoughtfully decorated. At the west end of the hall is the full bath with clawfoot tub. Pull the curtains back and relax in a nice hot bath or take a shower and get going exploring all there is to do in the western Catskills. There is another door in the hall which leads to the attic space where its currently empty and off-limits but we have future plans to turn it into a usable third floor and personal wellness retreat. Stay tuned! Air Conditioning: In the Catskills the summer evenings are usually pretty comfortable temperatures. Occasionally there are heat waves and we have provided window air conditioners in each bedroom and one downstairs to keep that relatively dehumidified. Please remember to shut them off when you leave. We usually install the air conditioners from June-August. Our mantra is for you to treat this home with love and respect like it was your own home. We want you to be as comfortable as possible so we have provided keyless entry and instructions inside to minimize any disruption in your stay. However we will still be available if you need us via the Airbnb app or texting/calling. Check out the Guidebook for some of our local recommendations! The Village of Jeffersonville is small but has a big personality. In the past couple of years it has been going through a renaissance of sorts. It has some new great restaurants, such as Tavern on Main and some old staples such as the diner, Ted’s, which has typical diner fare but a small section dedicated to unique and delicious Turkish breakfast dishes. There is a small but good supermarket (Peck's) in town which has essentials or the market next to Samba Café which as more eclectic non-perishable items. Its very easy to take a pleasant stroll down the hill and through town. The restaurant, Tavern on Main, has a great bar inside and also a beer garden with live music during the summer months. Having a car is the easiest way to get around. There is a welcome letter with all the pertinent info for the house on the entry table. Extra linens are in the upstairs hall closet. Please leave used linens in the bathroom hamper. There is an iron and ironing board in the upstairs closet. Please remember to shut all windows and turn off all air-conditioners when leaving. Air Conditioners are window units and are for seasonal use and not installed year-round. We usually install them sometime in July. Two AC units have remotes please use those to set temperature and turn off/on the machine. The machine settings should always be at max cool and max fan. Firepit is also for seasonal use and in the rainy season, the area around it can get very marshy. Please bring your own wood to burn and can be purchased at the local gas station or grocery store. The hot tub can fit 7 people however is most comfortable with 6. Use the cover lifter to take on and off the cover. At the end of your stay, please shock the spa with the chemicals provided. Keep jets running to mix the chemicals for about 5 minutes and then close the cover. Heater must be turned down to 75 degrees or you will be charged an extra $75 dollars for failure to do this. By using the hot tub you assume all responsibility for any bodily or property injury. Please respect this amenity and the volume of your voice/music as sound travels far in the quiet country evenings. Wood Stove is for seasonal use. Please be extra careful as all parts of the stove will be hot. Do not leave the fire burning unattended. Do not leave the door open unattended as sparks may fly out. We suggest you bring your own wood if there is none available for you to use. By staying at this Airbnb you and your party assume all risk and liability for any damage to the property or persons staying/visiting.
