Creekside Pioneer Cabin Near Grandfather Mountain

Our Cabin is a historical rustic pioneer homestead that has been in our family over 100 years. We've maintained much of it's old original details. It has DirectTV, Internet WIFI, DVD player, CD/Karokee, Organ and sleeps 10 in beds. Beds = 1(Q) Dn, 1(T) Dn, 2(Q)up, and 3 (T) up. It has a fireplace, original wood floors, charcoal grill, fire pit, waterfall, trails, a creek, a bridge and absolute serenity! In winter snows you'll need an AWD or 4x4 vehicle. Close to town and Grandfather Mtn. The space My great grandfather, Starlin Calhoun, built this house and raised 9 children there. It is rustic and charming in character. We ask that you respect its age and treat it with care. This is a peaceful, cozy, private and secluded cabin in the woods with a flowing creek and water fall in the front yard. We live in a private secluded hollow with dirt roads, streams and creeks all around us. The home has an over 40 year old honey bee hive between the original chimney and the rock over the chimney. The cabin also carries a musky wooden odor that reminds you your in the woods. It was nicknamed “the boomer house” because there are some near extinct boomer squirrels that sometimes get in the house and scurry around the attic. We have fresh spring water that supplies our homes fresh from our mountain tops. No City Water here! We are less than 2 miles from town of Newland and only 15 minutes to skiing and golf courses. There are so many things to offer visitors to our High Country. Grandfather mountain is minutes down the road, Sugar Mountain, Beech Mountain, and the town of Boone, home to Appalachain State University is just down the road. Bristol motor speedway is an hour away from us and Tri-Cities airport is also 45 minutes away. Guest access Guests may enjoy the house and its contents. However, ALL outbuildings surrounding the house such as the barns and outhouse are OFF LIMITS and are for the owners use only. The house has an indoor soap stone fireplace and an outdoor fire pit for your enjoyment. The house is heated with baseboard electric floor heaters along the walls and plug in heaters. There is No HVAC in the house or air conditioning of any kind. You are air conditioned by Nature. The house stays around 68 degrees most summer long. The house has a tin roof providing soothing sounds of rain on the tin and has a constant water fall sound of flowing water from the creek in the the front yard. You are surrounded by trees and nature at the house. Other things to note NEWLY ADDED: WIFI Internet, DIRECT TV 90+ channels, DVD player, VERIZON CELL PHONE COVERAGE works in the yard. All other phone carriers are spotty in our hollow butwill work in town (ATT) Items to Bring: Bag of ICE (ice trays in the fridge), A jacket/sweater, Long/short sleeve shirts, Pants, Shorts, Robe, Slippers, Extra Shampoo/Conditioner, Extra paper products, Drinks, Groceries, charcoal, lighter fluid, flash light, bug spray, medicines, hand sanitizer, trash bags, coffee, coffee filters, k-cups, and plastic plates & cups.
