Just 65 miles from New York City, a cozy three-bedroom cabin on five acres on a private road along a babbling brook. Minutes away from hiking and farms, Storm King as well as major supermarkets and retail outlets. This is a place for easy going nature lovers - it's not a luxury hotel, sometimes the water has a sulphur odor, and the wifi is not fast. But if you love being in the woods, and appreciate biodiversity, you'll have a wonderful stay! With floor to ceiling windows looking out in to the woods from the living room, this is a great house for people who have a genuine love of nature. The biodiversity on the property and on the road is extraordinary. The Hudson Valley has stunning natural landscapes to explore. The house is decorated with contemporary art and family antiques. The road is quiet and secluded but only miles from town. The house has three bedrooms---two have a queen size bed, and one has a trundle bed with two twins. For kids we have a pack n play. There are two large living rooms---one upstairs and one downstairs, with a lounge area and work desk. We have satellite WIFI, 25 mbps. It works for emailing, zooming and streaming movies and tv, etc. But it is not high speed internet. The water often has a sulphur smell -- it's common in upstate NY -- but if that's the kind of the thing that you find unpleasant it's best you book elsewhere. The house rules are pretty simple: no smoking, no hunting, no guests not agreed on at time of booking and no parties. There are chairs by the creek for creek watching. Deer, birds, hawks, crane, frogs, bunnies and squirrels roam. Several hundred books live here across many genres including fiction, nonfiction, poetry and essays. There's also a basket of old New Yorkers and other magazines. A child-friendly house (although not child proofed), we have a collection of children's books and toys, a pack n play and a high chair. For guests I am available any time to answer questions by phone or email. I have a housekeeper/caretaker who can address any issues that arise as well.
