Cathy and George live in the Owners' Apartment (with a red door!) adjacent to the main house and are available to answer any questions. While new to Airbnb in 2014, we have been renting the apartments to vacationers since 2005, with scores of great reviews. This is an in-city neighbourhood and won't be as quiet as a rural setting. Watch the activity in a true Maine working harbour, with the famous fleet of windjammers sailing in an out. Walk out on the granite breakwater (7/8th of a mile long) to the working lighthouse at the centre of Rockland Harbour – stupendous views of Rockland itself and out to the offshore islands. Enjoy the world famous Lobster Festival, the Jazz Festival, the Blues Festival, the Maine Boat Show, Lobster Bike Ride and a host of other exciting events. Take a sail in a windjammer or a schooner out of the harbour. Walk to the Historic Downtown with over 40 restaurants, over 20 antique shops, the famous Farnsworth Art Museum and many other attractions. Drive down the many peninsulas and visit a simple lobster pound to taste wonderful fresh Maine seafood at its best – many are BYO wine and beer, and you can take a picnic for those luxury extras and members of your party who don't fancy seafood. Take a ferry (½ mile from the house) to the various offshore islands. Or for a whole day trip, take a ferry to the much beloved Monhegan Island. Take a whole day trip to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Ample off-street parking at the house. A car is recommended for exploring the area. Cape Air has a scheduled daily service to Boston Logan from Knox Regional Airport at Owls Head (4½ miles). Concord Coach Lines has a daily scheduled service to Boston from the Ferry Terminal (½ mile) There is a queen sofa bed in the Living Room
