Description

"Lone Pine Cottage" - High-quality direct lakefront on Highland Lake in Winsted. It is a 2016 total rebuild in charming Lake-Cottage style, nostalgic while utterly modern. Beautiful 2 bed 2 bath, large deck and dock slip in front cottage. Best of locations on Highland Lake. !) East side of the lake with preferred sun exposure. 2) Great, usable swimming area, (shallow for smaller kids, gradually deepening for adults). 3) Not impacted by heavier boat traffic. Central air. WIFI. The space If you know the lake well, you know that our location is particularly desirable for important reasons. Our location is. on the coveted east side with desired afternoon sun, with a swimming area with the right depth for kids and adults (getting deeper with a nice slowly graduated slope, starting at about 18 inches at the seawall, dropping to about 6 feet at the far end of the dock, and deepening to 25 feet at the distant center of the cove). We are located on a wide large cove, which is meaningful in keeping clear of the main boat traffic. Three-bedroom, 2 full bath cottage with fully equipped kitchen, open-concept (entirely restored 2016). We repurposed original and vintage materials from this loved early 1900's cottage during our restoration. Every window has a story. Just ask us! No-pet and no-smoking inside the cottage policies keep the cottage clean for all guests. Known as "Lone Pine Cottage," it now has central air throughout, radiant heat and an easy-to-use beautiful brick, gas fireplace. Great for crisp mornings. Have a grandfather that likes it hot- the cottage warms up like a warm blanket in the cold months. Bedrooms include: one queen, one full, and bunk beds in third bedroom. Also upstairs, is a comfortable reading area and desk, a full bathroom with a 2 person, fully tiled shower, while the downstairs bath boasts a new claw foot soaking tub. Three bedrooms can expand from sleeping six to about 11 using blow-up mattress, sofa-bed, and couch (not a party venue, but a family needing a bit more sleeping spots is ok) Downstairs, you will find a fully equipped kitchen, full-sized fridge, dual-fuel stove (gas stove top/electric oven), dishwasher and apron farm sink. Guests can use the dining table or at the kitchen peninsula. We have an open concept kitchen/dining/living room area which opens through french doors, onto a large deck just steps from the lake front. Enjoy the gas grill and picnic table for afternoon BBQs or and sunsets for a lovely evening dinner party. Bring your boat or jetski and tie up at our lakefront dock directly in front of the cottage. This lake is great for swimming, boating, water-skiing and fishing, and our spot is provides nice swimming for children. Private lawn and water front. Sunny side of the lake. The cottage is close to 'the Secret Spot,' (a nice area great for small children to play in the water). We live next door to the cottage. Guest access 2-3 on site parking spaces Other things to note We remt Saturday to Saturday June, July, August. The rest of the year, 3 day minimum, and come in or depart on any day of the week. IF THE SITE INDICATES OTHERWISE WHEN YOU ATTEMPT TO BOOK - please contact me, it is an error. LOWER RATES available for longer term stays in off season (Sept thru May) Ideal for relocating person needing short term stay while home hunting. 30-40 minutes to Avon/Farmington, 50 to Hartford, 30 mins to Kent. Of course, it's great in the summer, but fall and winter offer their own special activities. Fall leaves, apple picking, hay rides and pumpkin patches in the country. Winter snow, skiing, flannel sheets and cozy fires. Our cottage can comfortably accommodate all seasons!
