Charming 3-season 1940s home, with master bedroom suite and remodeled kitchen, sits beneath towering stand of white pines on the banks of the St Croix River. Located just a few miles from Marine on St Croix, Scandia and William O'brien State Park in a peaceful and secluded part of the river valley, surrounded by ravines, streams and woods. House shares a driveway with 2 related families. With a front lawn overlooking the river this is a uniquely beautiful setting. The space Scandinavian touches abound and much of the house is as it was originally built, with built-in bookcases, wood paneling, and large living room with high ceiling and views of the St Croix River. Updated kitchen with eating area and daybed. Stone patios on both sides of the house, indoor/outdoor fireplaces, 4 propane wall heaters. Sleeps 6 comfortably - each bedroom has 2 single beds. Master bedroom suite includes private bathroom and laundry area. Second bedroom has Scandinavian decor and wallpaper. 3rd bedroom overlooks wooded trout stream, with adjoining outer screen porch with 2 additional beds (bunk bed size), perfect for kids. Front lawn with ample outdoor furniture, dining table, and a hammock beneath small stand of mature white pines. Guest access Entire house, excluding any locked closets or areas with signs noting private. Other things to note Please read: GUESTS ARE EXPECTED TO SIGN A WAIVER OF LIABILITY AGREEMENT UPON ARRIVAL - THE WAIVER CONCERNS SOME OF THE FOLLOWING ISSUES: Access to the house is via steep gravel driveway and caution must be used when driving up and down to house. 2 other homes share same driveway access. Property is heavily wooded and guests will assume risks associated with tree falls or downed branches which can, in rare cases, block driveway access. Emergency services gaining access to property may be impacted by the aforementioned conditions. Parking on grass areas is discouraged, unless for health/mobility issues. House is on riverbank of a large wild & scenic river with changing water levels, strong currents and a variety of unseen hazards, given the remote setting. Guests assume all responsibility and inherent risks associated with swimming, boating and other water-based activities. Canoes/kayaks are included in the rental but the guest assumes responsibility to follow all relevant Minnesota laws with regard to use of watercraft, PFDs, and other associated regulations. MN DNR periodically patrol river waters.
