"Glasstonia" has been popular with those looking to immerse themselves in Bajan culture and enjoy the nearby beach, nightlife, and restaurants. Located on the tourist belt and main road for easy access to transportation to all points of the island. Glasstonia is a spacious and self-catered two-bedroom house near Oistins's fishing town. The house is located in the tourist belt area between Oistins and Bridgetown, with close proximity to Dover Beach and St. Lawrence Gap. Public transportation to Holetown, Speightstown, Bridgetown, and the airport is just a 30-second walk away. The neighbourhood is lively during the day and peaceful at night. Local attractions, such as Miami Beach, Oistins Fish Fry, and most embassies, can be reached within a 10-minute drive by bus or car. Bridgetown is about a 20-minute drive, depending on traffic. The house has private and secure parking for two cars if you rent a vehicle. The kitchen has all the necessary utensils for self-catering and several restaurants in the neighbourhood, including Le Verandah and Dexters Bar. Having a bar and restaurant located nearby comes with several advantages, primarily the convenient and immediate access to food and drinks. On the flip side, one potential drawback is the likelihood of noise, especially during weekends. Nevertheless, this inconvenience can be addressed effectively by notifying me about the issue. The businesses in the vicinity operate with a mutual understanding of respect, making it possible to rectify any excessive noise concerns with a simple phone call. IMPORTANT INFORMATION: The house is situated in a popular tourist area and is located right on the main road. As a result, there may be noise at different times of the day. We kindly request that you carefully read the description, as it is regularly updated to reflect changes in the community. If you experience any disturbance due to noise from the neighboring bar, please do not hesitate to contact me immediately. The bar owner and their staff are very friendly and are willing to cooperate with us to ensure a peaceful environment for all our guests. Secondly, please note that the water at Glasstonia is warm or slightly above room temperature. The system is set up such that the stronger the pressure, the warmer the water. However, due to the location of the property on the south coast and the water scarcity in the country, the pressure may not be as strong, and the warmth of the water may vary. As a result, hot water that steams is not available. Unfortunately, for many Caribbean homes, water temperature and scarcity is known to be a Caribbean issue. THE HOUSE This charming and renovated house is located in a lively and urban area. It offers a welcoming and homely atmosphere and is a great place to relax with friends and family. The house has screened windows to protect against insects and security cameras on the exterior. There is a tablet in the hallway that allows you to access the cameras for added security and peace of mind. The house features a spacious front lawn and balcony, as well as two large bedrooms with dimmer switches. Each bedroom is equipped with TVs that have access to Netflix and YouTube, and the house has strong WiFi coverage from the front gate to the back of the property. The house is well-ventilated, with fans and an air conditioner that cools the living room and dining room (please turn off the air conditioner when not in use). The house has four gates for added security, including one at the front for secure parking and one at the balcony entrance for the safety of children. At night, the house is lit by mini solar lights that become brighter when activated by movement. Please note that Glasstonia is a self-catering home and we provide a starter kit of everything you need for your stay. Beach chairs and an umbrella are also provided. For an additional cost, we can arrange rental cars, additional maid service, and walking tours. This semi-smart home allows you to control the mood of the house by changing the colors of the lights in the kitchen, bedroom, hallway, main hallway, bathroom, and backyard. Additionally, the home is equipped with Alexa, which allows you to play music, set alarms and schedules, receive news updates, and more. However, if you are not tech-savvy, Alexa can be turned off and the house will still function fully. As the country has reopened, Glasstonia is committed to providing a clean, open, and sanitized environment for its guests. In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the property has implemented measures to ensure the safety of its guests, including the option to cancel without penalty up to the day of check-in. All seats in the house, from the couch to the dining table, are cleaned and sanitized after each rental, with each chair equipped with its own chair cover. CHILD(REN) SAFETY: • There are three main gates on the property to keep children safe while they play. • The property also has sensor lights and cameras on the outside for security. WHAT ELSE IS NEARBY: • Elcourt Medical Clinic is located just a short distance from the property and is open late for emergencies. • Massy supermarket, the Barbados Museum and Historical Society, and the Garrison can all be reached within a 15-minute drive or bus ride. • The property is also conveniently located near the highway, churches, an ice cream parlor, and a 24-hour gas station. • Chefette, a fast food chain, is also within easy reach. HOUSEKEEPING: • Guests are responsible for changing the sheets during their stay and keeping the house clean. • Additional towels and sheets are provided. • A housekeeper can be arranged for an additional fee if needed. Guests are welcome to access most of the property, including the house, front lawn, and parking space. In addition, the immediate backyard features a washing machine and a pergola where guests can relax under the stars. I allow guests to be on vacation. Interaction is based on the guest's needs. Glasstonia is located in the tourist-friendly located in the tourist belt Christ Church area of Barbados, with access to local attractions such as Miami Beach, Oistins Fish Fry, St. Lawrence Gap, and various embassies within a 10-minute drive by bus or car. Therefore, there is potential for noise. The neighborhood offers amenities such as gyms, tennis courts, and on-call massage and chef services. The area is vibrant during the day and peaceful at night, with a bar next door that serves competitively priced food and drinks. On weekends, the bar may play music until 2 am at a respectful volume. If the noise is too much, the owner has a good working relationship and is willing to address any concerns. Other nearby dining options include the De Verandah restaurant and bar, which has a low noise level, and the Elcourt Medical Clinic and pharmacy are just a few doors down. The Top Rock Gas Station is open 24 hours and is approximately five city blocks away. The Maxwell/Dover area has many great dining options. Please note, this neighborhood has the potential for traffic noise both day and night, and the bar next door is all a part of an urban setting. But on average levels off around 12 midnight. Public transportation is right outside the gate less than 5 seconds away for ZR vans and government transport board bus is 1 minute walk away. In addition, the property has 4 parking spaces. We provide walking tours that delve into historical events. Our tours are carefully curated and prices vary depending on the chosen itinerary. Additionally, we offer personalized services for special occasions such as surprise birthdays, engagements, or romantic getaways.
