Description
Rustic, off grid (no electricity) timber framed cabin nestled in the hills 5 minutes from Kingdom Trails mountain bike network and Burke Mountain bike park! Our cabin sits in a meadow surrounded by wildflowers and adjacent to a small apple orchard. You'll have beautiful views of Burke Mountain with a short walk up the hill and 38 acres to explore. We have an outdoor fire pit, lawn games and a composting toilet close by. Come enjoy this magical place with your friends and family! The space The cabin sits on the edge of a wooded forest and an open meadow. Parking is right next to the cabin. The cabin was hand built with traditional tools and using a mortise and tenon technique. The lumber (flooring, siding, shelving and bar tops) was milled right from the land. The cabin gets a lot of day time sun and offers spectacular star gazing on a clear night. There is an open space for outdoor fires, lawn games and enjoyed a cold beverage after a long bike ride, hike, or swim. 1/2 mile down the road is a secret, small swimming hole with a water fall. Guest access Access to the entire cabin, a composting toilet near by and the meadow are for cabin guests only. You may see some guests who are staying at a yurt, down the hill, who may walk up to take in the view at the top of the hill. Make sure to say hello, or enjoy a brew together. But don't worry the yurt and cabin are far enough away that can't see each other and can both enjoy the solitude of nature and the remoteness of the Northeast Kingdom! Other things to note The road to cabin is almost 1/2 mile. Guests should drive slowly (5mph max) as the road can be bumpy in places and winds through the woods. You will drive right past the yurt (another booking) so please be mindful and courteous of others. It is important to respect their space as well.
