Enjoy crisp air, views of the Milky Way on a clear night, sightings of deer, fox, and vivid sunsets from the cabin’s west-facing wall of windows in the living room. The Getaway Chalet sits on 2+ private acres that allow for seclusion, peace, quiet, and stunning natural beauty from every window. The Getaway Chalet is located in the Manitou Experimental Forest and is minutes from Manitou Lake and many other beautiful trails. Manitou Experimental Forest boasts one of the most stunning views of Pike's Peak and the surrounding mountain ranges. The cabin is only a 15-minute drive from Woodland Park, where you’ll find 4 grocery stores, many restaurants and cafes, and a quaint downtown. Amazing hikes and parks are just minutes from the cabin, Historic Manitou is only 30 minutes away, and Colorado Springs is 45 minutes away. The area offers exciting destinations, including Pike’s Peak, Manitou Incline, Garden of the Gods, hiking, fly fishing, ice fishing, rock climbing, and more. The LIVING ROOM features a wood-burning stove that brings a rustic cabin feel to the space, although there are baseboard heaters as well. The 70” TV has Roku so you can login to your accounts on apps like Hulu and Netflix. We provide extra blankets and plugs for max comfort. The living room has almost floor to ceiling windows with remote-control blinds and access to the west-facing balcony that is the best place to watch the colorful sunsets. The KITCHEN is stocked for making some delicious meals during your stay. There is a coffee maker, oven, stove, microwave, blender, kettle, fridge and toaster oven, and we provide some coffee. We also provide salt, pepper, pots, pans, utensils, wine glasses, mugs, plates, bowls, cutting boards, glasses, and more! There is a kitchen table where you can sit down to enjoy a nice meal. The main BEDROOM has a queen memory-foam mattress, new high quality bedding and fresh linens for your comfort. There is a bench, large closet, and hangers for your clothes. The upstairs bedroom opens up as a loft to the living room, but the railing provides some privacy. The upper bedroom features both a couch and a queen-sized bed with high quality bedding and linens. There are stairs to the loft and a railing, but it may not be suitable for young children without adult supervision. The BATHROOM is entirely renovated. It has a tub and shower, and we provide fresh towels, makeup-removing towels, shampoo, conditioner, bodywash, bar soap, hand soap, cotton balls, bath salts, a hair dryer and a few extra rolls of toilet paper. The cabin features 2 separate DECK AREAS. The front deck has 4 chairs and is a great spot to sip your morning coffee while soaking in the morning sun. It overlooks Mt Deception and much of our 2+ acre property, where deer often graze in the grass. The second deck area is the balcony with access from the living room. This is the best spot to catch the afternoon sun and the very colorful sunsets. The cabin sits on 2+ acres of private property which you can explore with caution, but please be aware of steep hills and uneven paths. Lockbox entry with a code, fast WIFI, several places to set up a laptop, and phone chargers are perfect for those WORKING REMOTELY or traveling for BUSINESS. We have had many people here working remotely at the same time. Guest access Guests will have exclusive access to the cabin, private driveway, 2 deck areas and 2+ acres of private property. Approximately 4 cars can park in the driveway, as we have a lower parking area that fits 2 cars and an upper area that fits an additional 2 cars. Other things to note No smoking, parties, or pets are allowed. Caution and care must be used by anyone handling the wood-burning stove in the living room. Absolutely no items can be placed on the stove or on the stove's platform if a fire is going or has recently been going. All fires must be properly put out before leaving the cabin. If anyone does not feel comfortable following the rules necessary to use it, we have baseboard heaters in the kitchen, living room, bathroom, and lower-level bedroom and many radiators to use instead. Please be mindful of wild animals potentially on the property. Trash must be placed in the sealed trash can in the kitchen or moved to the larger trash can located outside that must always be properly sealed. The cabin is open and accessible year-round, but the last 2 miles are via a treated dirt road, so please make sure you are traveling in an appropriate vehicle, especially in the wintertime. When ice or snow are present, a 4WD-AWD vehicle is necessary.
