Relax in the tranquility of a comfy getaway w/ a view. 20 scenic min. from Homer, AK, panoramic vistas, outdoor opportunities, & the charm of a chalet w/ most of the comforts of home. Bedrooms on each floor, full kitchen, & woodstove welcome you. About a mile to Homer Rope Tow, Lookout Mtn. ski trails, & back country trails. Explore nearby trails in any season by foot, snowshoe, ski, fat tire bike, snow machine, or ATV. Wonderful for some time away in winter. Perfect for solitude in summer! The space 2 story, large chalet with a bedroom on each floor and only a 20 min. from Homer with its own views along the way. Pullout couch and twin air mattress offers sleeping options. Pack n Play, baby gate, and booster high chair available. Full kitchen except no running water. (12 gal. of delicious well water is provided per 2 nights.) Bathroom is an outdoor, well lit outhouse complete with heater that is switched on from the chalet. If you find yourself in need of a shower, we suggest the Washboard in town. It is frequented by visitors and locals alike. Heat sources are wood stove and oil monitor stove. Relax and enjoy views of the Anchor River valley by day and (hopefully!) northern lights from the deck or living room by night (in winter). In summer and fall take in the rolling hills of forest and fire weed. Upstairs landing has a smart TV and DVD player and a selection DVDs. Opposite small deck has firewood storage and access to outhouse. Fire ring is available in the yard, please bring your own firewood. Some wood for wood stove provided. On clear days spot Redoubt volcano from the deck. Location is about 1 mile from Watermelon Trail, Homer Rope Tow, and Lookout Mountain ski trails. In summer the Watermelon Trail is available for hiking, fat tire biking, and ATV adventures. Volcano Vista is a great place to relax after a day of fishing or after exploring the Spit and Homer must-sees (Pratt Museum, Islands & Ocean, Wynn Nature Center, etc!). Best for 4 guests, up to 2 additional guests, $20 per additional guest per night. Cell phone coverage can be spotty, depending on cell carrier. Enjoy a glamping getaway, jumping off point for family adventure, or bring your visitors above Homer for a quiet evening in the hills. Guest access Parking for one vehicle at the parking area for the chalet. More parking available if needed, just let us know. Access to Volcano Vista is via a short path. Weather conditions can change quickly and snow removal can be difficult or delayed. Please bring a headlamp or flashlight. Other things to note This is a DRY property, which means there is no running water. Well water is provided per 2 nights stay (water for more nights is provided). The bathroom is an outhouse, or latrine, that is well lit and close to the chalet. Be aware of wildlife. Cell phone coverage can be spotty, but is generally reliable.
