Historical Home in World Heritage Site

Description

Part of the World Heritage Site on "Malmen" opposite Drottningholm Palace, the residence of the King and Queen of Sweden, across the road with its parks. This 180 square meter villa, 30 minutes to Stockholm by public transport, 4 minutes by car or bus to the nearest shopping center with free parking outside the house dates from 1780. The house has a modern feel and has been newly renovated in parts with a basement spa and a new bathroom. Nice back garden with terrace. Golf and lake swimming. The space One of the oldest houses on the famous hill of "Malmen" built after the construction of Drottningholm Palace, the present main residence of the King and Queen of Sweden. Originally built by the king's carpenter during the 1780s, the house became a school for the queen's and other children briefly at the end of the 19th century. It is a part of the World Heritage Site. The house has a modern feel and has been newly renovated in parts to include geothermal heating, a basement spa (including workout room, sauna and relaxation area) and a newly renovated bathroom and toilet. The original tiled stoves are still there and the one in the dining room is usable. Our favourite room is the large living room with our extensive library, available for all guests to use with care. The dining room with a period mirror has a large 18th century dining table and opens directly out onto the terrace. The house opens out onto a front yard and a charming back garden with covered terrace and various corners for enjoying a cup of coffee or tea in the sun. The house overlooks the lake in front of Drottningholm Palace. A walk in the opposite direction over the hill of Malmen will get you to a beach and a dock which in the summer is a popular swimming facility. You may book a round of golf at the nearby Royal Drottningholm Golf Club if you have are a member in a golf club elsewhere. Drottningholm Park with its 17th and 18th century gardens, and the oldest functioning opera stage in the world (check the ongoing program of performances online), Drottningholm Palace Theater, are directly across the road. From mid-May until the end of September the steamer boats that leave from across the road will take you into central Stockholm in 50 minutes, although the nearby bus (2 minutes' walk from our front gate) and subway stations (4 minutes from us by bus) will get you there in 30 minutes. The Mälarö islands are easily accessible from the house by bicycle (available from us on request), car, bus, boat. Nearby shopping centers are in Brommaplan (4 minutes by bus) and Ekerö Centrum (10 minutes by bus). Parking is free outside the house.
