Description

Stay waterfront on Brentwood Bay with outstanding views of the ocean by booking this 1 bedroom suite! Go kayaking or fishing, spot orca whales and make use of the private dock and beach. Unwind with a hot tub at night as you admire the ocean side sunset. 5-star spa, pub & restaurant next door and a few extra minutes gets you to local shops and the famous Butchart Gardens. Come by boat, car, or bike - and charter one of our boats with and skipper to show you ocean paradise. The space This suite has a private entrance, full kitchen, 6 person dining table, indoor and outdoor sitting areas, separate bedroom with King-sized bed, queen Murphy, laundry, outdoor patio table, BBQ, and a deck that is steps from the ocean. There is a hot-tub overlooking the ocean (shared with one other suite). There is also an adjacent two bedroom suite with an adjoining door that can rented so as to create a 3 bedroom space. We recently acquired a 46 foot yacht for short term rental as well. Let us know if you would like more details. Please note- the suite is on a waterfront property and and on the lower, water side of the house. There is a sloped driveway and several stairs to get down to the entry door of the suite and then more stairs to get down to the beach. While there are railings on all stairwells, accessibility may be difficult for those with mobility challenges. Guest access You can sit on your deck and watch the boats come and go. Want to join those folks on the water? We have a few sit-on-top kayaks and a stand-up paddle board for use during your stay (at your own risk, of course). You can drop a fishing line or crab trap off our private, 200 foot dock. Perhaps you would enjoy venturing out into the bay to catch some tasty BC Spot Prawns. (Remember to hold them by the tail... and bring your saltwater fishing license!). Enjoy the sunset from our shared hot-tub or from the water-side, 90-year-old, stone, outdoor fireplace. Then, carry your cocktail to the end of our 200 foot dock and watch the Butchart Gardens fireworks (every Saturday night throughout the summer). There is even a swim ladder on the end of the dock for those interested in jumping in for a swim (no need for a wetsuit in the summer but chilly for those interested in a winter polar bear swim). Other things to note Interested in staying for a month or more? Care to spend the winter with us? Contact us for special winter rates. We have many amenities to enjoy during your stay and this is an overview of how best to access them safely. Note, use of all of these amenities is at your own risk. We ask you to be conscious of your abilities and aware of your surroundings, the weather and any other potential hazards. When in doubt, please ask us for assistance. We have a friendly “woodle” who lives with us. She is happy to visit or can be kept at a distance, as you prefer. Her name is Jolene and she loves when you sing to her. 1. Dock We have lounge chairs at the end of the dock to relax and enjoy the bay. Cushions are in the last dock box and an umbrella is there if needed. Please put cushions back and close the umbrella after use as the wind can blow cushions off the dock quickly and/or damage the umbrella. 2. Kayaks and Paddleboards All the kayaks and paddle boards are available for use. (Note: the transparent kayak has different requirements, see below). We ask that you don't beach any vessels without bringing a foam pool noodle (stored in the dock bins) to protect the bottoms from the barnacles and sharp rocks. There is a roller halfway down the dock on the left side. It works great for lowering and raising boards/ kayaks in/out of the water. There are life jackets, paddle floats, skirts and pumps in the first dock box. Note, we are very protected in the bay but the wind can pick up quickly. A great destination is Tod Inlet, about an hour to the end of the Inlet and back. Just head left and follow the shoreline. Note: Please don't hesitate to ask for a fuller explanation if you have any concerns. 3. Crab/ Prawn traps/ Fishing There are fishing rods and traps available on the dock. Prawning is done in very deep water and a boat is required to pull the lines. Crab traps can be set off the dock or around the reef to the left of the dock (please don't tie traps to pilings as they will tangle when the tide goes up and down). Fish can be caught there as well. Note: a BC saltwater fishing license is required prior to these activities. 4. Sauna coming soon... 5. Barbecue and Fireplace Before the dock, at the shoreline, we have a patio with a wood fireplace, gas fire pit and gas barbecue. Please help yourself and be cautious of local fire bans in the summer. There are seat cushions in the bin beside the stairs. Note: As sound carries on the water we ask for quiet time after 10PM. 6. Other Boats on Dock These are not included in your stay, please do not board without permission. 7. Hot Tub There is a shared hot tub beside the suites. Please rinse off before entry and be cautious not to spill food or drinks in the tub. Out of respect for other guests and neighbours, we ask that you not use the hot tub after 10PM. 8. Transparent Kayak The transparent kayak is a great was to see bioluminescence in the water at night and sea life during the day. To preserve the transparency of the kayak, it cannot be beached or dragged. Please use rollers or carefully lift to avoid scratching and avoid sharp items in the vessel. It is designed for underwater visibility and is not stable in waves or wind. Please ask for more information if interested in trying out. We hope this helps and please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions! Enjoy and stay safe!
