A very warm welcome to 'number eleven', a rather unique stay in one of the Addycombe Cottages. This is a Victorian Grade II* listed apartment in the town of Rothbury, overlooking the Coquetdale Valley. The space is peaceful, welcoming and relaxing. Perfect for a romantic escape or a family adventure. Dogs are considered part of the family and are very much welcome. The space You will have this first floor apartment to yourselves accessed via the original stone steps to the rear. The living space is open plan featuring an AGA in the kitchen area. There is a double log burning stove in the inglenook stone fireplace. There is a range of books, games and a TV with a selection of DVD's. A double and a twin bedroom accommodate 4 guests comfortably. The bathroom has a walk in shower and a slipper bath. On road parking is available to the rear. Outside, a short walk from the back gate, there is an enclosed private small garden space where you can sit and have a morning coffee or evening glass of wine amongst the fruit trees. The terrace of houses were built in 1873. Lord Armstrong commissioned Richard Norman Shaw, the architect of nearby National Trust Cragside House to design and build this row of houses to give retirement homes to the staff of his estate. Designed in a distinctive Domestic Revival style, you can see why visitors come to admire them. Other things to note We will provide you with a 'starter pack' of logs and kindling for the wood burning stove. Should you require more logs for your stay, these can be purchased in the village. For those that don't want to cook on the AGA, or turn it on to cook in the summer months, there is a microwave, a counter top induction plate and SAGE mini oven. These can be taken out of the cupboards to use if needed.
