High On Penguin has superb views overlooking the town of Penguin, Bass Strait and the coastline to the east. The space High On Penguin is an accommodation establishment in Penguin, a popular seaside town situated on the North West Coast of Tasmania. High On Penguin offers affordable accommodation with self-catering cooking facilities and breakfast ingredients. High On Penguin is located on a hill close to the town centre with panoramic view of the Penguin township and the coastline to the east. There are a number of excellent restaurants and coffee shops within a ten minutes walk. High On Penguin has five comfortable guest rooms. Each room is decorated on a rock ‘n roll theme. There are two guest lounges with large screen TV’s and a large collection of music CDs and DVDs and music memorabilia. A large private balcony has fantastic sea views and barbecue and dining facilities. High On Penguin is an easy 25 minutes drive from the Spirit of Tasmania terminal and 30 minutes drive from airports in Burnie and Devonport. Penguin is a scenic 90 minutes drive from the Launceston airport. High On Penguin caters for singles, couples, families and groups of up to ten. The pricing is affordable and includes full breakfast ingredients. The pricing is as follows: $160/couple or two adults/night and $50/additional adult/night, children under 5 years stay free and children between 5 and 15 years are half price. High On Penguin was opened on the 1st of June 2012 by Ronnie & Maggie Burns. Ronnie is a legend of early Australia rock 'n roll and Maggie had a long association as a choreographer on the long running TV production - Young Talent Time. High On Penguin's five bedrooms - the Jimi Hendrix room, the Neil Young room, the Joni Mitchell room, the Bob Dylan room and the Janis Joplin room are decorated with memorabilia and have biographies etc. of each artist. Why these five artists - they are the Gerard's favourite artists of the 60's and 70's. The downstairs lounge area has a working Wurlitzer Jukebox, a large screen TV with surround sound and a large collection of CDs and DVDs. This room has fantastic panoramic sea views. The stairway between the two levels of the house is decorated with music memorabilia - featuring a male and female rock 'n roll hall of fame. The area at the top of the stairs contains more music memorabilia and music books. The upstairs lounge is a very spacious area. It has a fridge and tea and coffee making facilities. It has a restored record player, heaps of LPs, a large screen TV with surround sound, a blu-ray player and a large collection of CDs and DVDs. This room contains most of the music book library. There are autobiographies/biographies from a wide range of music genres - they include Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Leonard Cohen, Janis Joplin, Bono, Dusty Springfield, Bob Dylan, Hank Williams, Neil Young, Billy Thorpe, Jimi Hendrix, Joan Baez, Madonna, Aretha Franklin, Ozzie Osborne, Paul Kelly, Ronnie Wood, Stevie Wonder, Townes Van Zandt, Elvis, Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen, Jim Morrison, Simon & Garfunkel, Meat Loaf, Michael Jackson, Elton John, Ray Charles ......... The collection of CDs, DVDs and music movies cover the broad range of popular music - rock, R&B, blues, country, alternative, reggae etc.
