Description
A very light and lofty living space has been created from the old farm stable on a working family farm situated at the north end of the vale of York close to the County Durham border. Boasting glorious views of the surrounding 240 acres of mixed farmland, including woods and an attractive pond area. The farm is approximately a mile and a half from any public road and is the perfect place to enjoy a peaceful break in secluded countryside with all the luxury of a modern barn conversion. The space The Old Stable is south facing, set close to the farmhouse and has its own driveway, entrance, parking and garden areas. The accommodation is all ground floor. The main entrance of the property is accessed via a garden path from the parking area. A spacious utility room includes Belfast sink, washing machine and dryer also a cloakroom with WC. A traditional style oak boarded door leads into the very spacious open plan living area complete with original wooden roof trusses and beams. An attractive brick fireplace and log burner take centre stage with large bifold doors leading out onto a sheltered patio area, ideal for outdoor dining in the summer months. The well equipped kitchen area features a large window overlooking pasture land with a traditional kitchen table and dresser completing the ‘Industrial farmhouse style’ of this recently finished barn conversion. Two bedrooms are accessed from the living area via a small lobby. The master bedroom is very generous in proportion, with a king size sleigh bed and pretty Edwardian wardrobe. It has splendid south facing views of pasture land and the pond/wildlife area. An ensuite bathroom with freestanding slipper bath, separate shower and marble vanity unit completes the luxury of this main bedroom. The second bedroom is cosy and more modest in proportion having twin beds with generously sized duvets and an open wardrobe area with mirror and dressing shelf. It has a well appointed ensuite bathroom with a spacious shower cubicle and a large window with a deep sill. The Old Stable has underfloor heating throughout with porcelain tiled floors and decorative rugs. It has been decorated and furnished simply in sympathy with its very rural setting and makes for the perfect romantic retreat or quiet family holiday. Guest access There is ample parking at the Old Stable for at least three vehicles. The surrounding villages of Dalton, Croft, North Cowton and Middleton Tyas are only a 10 minute drive away or guests can use the public footpaths and bridleways. The local villages all have Inns serving food and refreshments. Other things to note Tea, Coffee and milk will be provided for guests to help themselves. Logs, kindling etc are all inclusive. We are a working family farm and certain areas of the farm yard are not accessible for safety reasons but by request we will be only too pleased to show guests the livestock and machinery.
