Entire lower level (not a basement) of a stylish, three storey Colonial urban retreat. Bright and sunny with its own private entrance, private bathroom and kitchenette. Welcome to this quiet space, modernised and newly decorated in 2018. It's close to the shops, close to the railroad, close to the bus stop and close to a park. There is plenty of free parking, free use of a washer and drier and use of one of two deck areas for al fresco eating. The kitchenette has a microwave, toaster oven, a hot plate, a range of induction -ready pots and pans, a fridge, a kettle, a sink and plenty of plates, cups etc. Port Chester has a variety of restaurants but the train station is a ten minute walk away so if you prefer to eat in Manhattan or Brooklyn the commute is 45 minutes to Grand Central, right in the heart of NYC. Guests will be able to access the whole lower level and one of the deck areas. I live on the two upper floors and will often be available for any questions or help needed. I can be contacted on my mobile phone via Airbnb mail. Port Chester is defined as a village but by American standards. It is quiet and rural but city life is easily accessible. The shops are easily accessible by foot. Connecticut is a ten minute walk away across a river full of ducks, geese and swans. The nearby town of Rye boasts a lovely beach (as shown in the last two photos) on the Long Island Sound, beautiful parks and the Marshlands Conservancy which is an excellent spot for bird watching. There are superb restaurants offering cuisine from seafood to vegan so every taste is catered for! Walking to the shops is quick and easy. There is a bus at the bottom of the road for local destinations such as Rye, Mamaroneck, New Rochelle and Larchmont. The train station is a few minutes walk away and trains into Manhattan are every 30 minutes and arrive into Grand Central station. If you need/prefer to rent a car, Enterprise Car Rental is five minute walk away. Taxi to the station or to anywhere in Port Chester is $5.00 (fixed price) for one adult and $3 for seniors. There is a small table to eat at with two chairs. There is a desk to work from and a printer. There is a small charge for using the printer depending upon how many copies are required. There is a rail to hang clothes on and some cupboard shelving in the bathroom. There is an excellent deli just a few steps away that opens at 7.00am!
