The space Emerge yourself in this one-of-a-kind, naval-inspired timber frame house that is an architectural marvel. You will instantly feel the love that was put into building it the moment you enter the space. This large, split-level home is spacious enough to afford separation and downtime from whomever you are travelling with and complete privacy from Neighbours. History An authentic Viking Long House, hidden away in the heart of Vancouver Island and built using the ancient art of timber framing by Master Boat Builder, Timber Framer, Pat Woodland, and housebuilder Craig Barnes. Timber Framers use mortise and tendons without nails. In addition, you will note specific curved beams and roof trusses around the eyebrow windows, all individually carved by hand, using a hand-made steamer. The curved staircase was built by hand by Craig Barnes. Renowned Iron Worker Theresa, The Welder Chic, created the Wrought Ironwork. The front door comes from the owner's great grandfather's historic house in Rockland, Victoria, built-in 1861 and demolished for a subdivision in 1955. The fir floors are milled from Vancouver Island fir, and the stained glass windows were rescued from an 18th-century house in England. Most of the marble comes from Matrix Marble, lovingly selected from their quarry on Vancouver Island. The owners are avid readers and hope you will enjoy reading from the eclectic library collection. The house is formally named "Innisfree," after the poem by the great Irish poet W.B. Yeats. Other Features and Amenities: Indoor space: games room, media room, library, open concept living area with fireplaces (yes plural!). Outdoor space: massive deck with lounge furniture, fireplace, hot tub, courtyard, Italian garden, fountains, rose gardens, and dining area. The primary bedroom's full marble en-suite bathroom will make any couple feel like royalty. Guest access As our guest, you have access to all amenities.
