Upper Pine-insula Lodge provides everything you need to enjoy all that the U.P. has to offer. Whether you're planning a quiet getaway for a few people or bringing the whole extended family, this spacious lakefront home will allow you to spend time together or spread out and relax. With three separate indoor living areas, nine beds, a large yard, and a wraparound porch overlooking Sporley Lake, large and small groups alike will find the space comfortable and welcoming. The space Set on a large private lakefront property, Upper Pine-insula Lodge is perfect for everything from laid-back weekends to adventure-filled vacations or long summer weeks on the water. The home comfortably sleeps up to 15 guests and works especially well for multiple families, couples traveling together, or groups of friends. The large driveway has plenty of parking, including room for trailers. Sporley Lake is known for great fishing, with brown trout and splake stocked annually. Guests are welcome to bring a boat and use the lake's DNR-operated launch site. Ice fishing is popular in winter! Inside the house, you’ll find Wi-Fi, smart TVs, board games, video games, a well-stocked kitchen, and comfortable gathering spaces for rainy days or cozy evenings in. Outside, the Blackstone griddle provides many versatile options for cooking. The lodge is located 10 miles from Gwinn, so groceries, dinner, and essentials are within a short drive, while the K.I. Sawyer Shoppette just two miles away is a convenient option for quick trips to the store. Marquette lies within a 30 minutes' drive and provides a multitude of options for restaurants, shopping, breweries, and outdoor attractions. Upper Pine-insula Lodge's central U.P. location is ideal for day trips to favorite destinations like Kitch-iti-kipi, Fayette Historic State Park, and Pictured Rocks. If you're visiting the area for outdoor recreation, snowmobiles and ORVs can access the Michigan DNR trail system directly from the property—no trailering to a drop point needed. Sawyer International Airport is also just 10 minutes away for those flying into the area. Bathrooms First floor: - Half bath with laundry in the back entry area - Full bathroom accessed through bedroom Second floor: - Jack and Jill bathroom features two half baths adjoined by their shared access to the bathtub/shower. Bathrooms are accessed on one side through the open loft area and on the other through the bedroom. Boating A public DNR launch is available on Sporley Lake. Campfires The fire pit area has six chairs: guests may wish to bring folding chairs to accommodate additional people. Firewood is not provided. Climate Control One large window air conditioner is centrally located on the main floor. There is no air conditioning upstairs. The basement stays naturally cool in summer. Fishing Lake trout, bass, and splake are the most common species in Sporley Lake; bluegill and perch may also be caught. Fishing gear is provided. Grill A Blackstone propane griddle is available for guest use year-round. Propane, utensils, and oil for seasoning are provided. Outdoor Space The house features a large grassy yard overlooking the lake, a wooden dock, and wraparound porch which encompasses three sides of the house. Parking The parking area is large and will accommodate many vehicles plus one to two trailers. Pets Dogs and cats are welcome for a pet fee of $100. Privacy & Security Neighboring houses are within sight (estimated 50-60 feet away): close enough to hear voices but not conversations. After 10 pm, please keep outdoor noise to talking level. A single exterior security camera faces the parking area; there are no indoor cameras. Sleeping Areas Basement: - Private bedroom with queen bed - Living room with full pullout couch First floor: - Private bedroom with queen bed - Living room with full pullout couch Second floor: - Mostly private bedroom with queen bed (bedroom has wooden shutters which open onto living room below; some sound will transfer) - Loft space with three standard full beds, one twin trundle bed, and couch that converts into queen bed Water Toys 3 kayaks, 2 paddle boats, fishing poles, and a variety of life jackets are provided seasonally for guest use Winter Access The private one-lane road to the house is reliably plowed when snowfall is 4" or more. 4WD is recommended during particularly snowy weather and spring thaw conditions.
