This is a perfect chance for you to stay in one of the oldest houses right in the heart of downtown Kansas City! Who doesn't like staying in a place that has a story behind it? This three-story Queen Anne-style home was built in 1887 by David Slater, who was a tailor from Ireland. Unit includes life-long memories, a tremendous experience, and top-notch furniture to 100% accommodate the best stay in KC! This space is perfect for families who want to have their own private space but shared space as well. The main floor is for entertaining and then there are two, two story suites on the second and third floor. Guests will have access to the entire main house. 10 minute walk to the convention center 10 minutes Nelson Atkins Museum, Kansas City Art Institute, UMKC and Kemper Museum. 7 minutes to Crown Center, Lego Land and Sea Life Aquarium 5 minutes to Hy-Vee arena 20 minutes Arrowhead and Royals stadiums We are only minutes from Sun Fresh, Midtown Market, Whole Foods and Walmart grocery stores. 2-3 minute drive to CVS pharmacy, Walgreens, and Starbucks. This home is located in Quality Hill, which is mostly of a 19th-century French and Federal style, similar to St. Louis's historic Soulard neighborhood! The neighborhood was officially founded in 1857, and at one point, was considered the most fashionable and expensive neighborhood in Kansas City. Many of the city's leaders of power and industry lived high on Quality Hill's limestone bluffs in large houses overlooking the West Bottoms below, which contained the city's industrial heart, rail center, and famous stockyards. In addition, on September 15, 1806, the Lewis and Clark Expedition stopped on what is now at the north end of Case Park, located at 8th Street and Jefferson Street. Some of the best places to eat in the neighborhood include The Peanut, which is known for the best wings as well as BLTs in Kansas City, Majestic, The Phoenix, and the Dragon House. In addition, some local bars where you can find some of the most entertaining townies include The Quaff, John's Big Deck, Beer 30, and on the nicer end of things, Hush Speakeasy. Everything listed is within blocks. I should also note, the Kansas City Convention center is one block from this area as well. If you'd like to travel a few more blocks down you can enjoy 801 Chophouse, one of the best steakhouses in town; Bristol Seafood, some of the best seafood in town; Drunken Fish, for all you sushi lovers; Yard House, an upscale sports bar that serves yards of beer; and Country Road Ice House, some of the best BBQ in KC! In addition, the same area offers plenty of entertainment such as the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, the Midland Theatre, the Folly Theatre, and the T-Mobile Center. Some of the best night-life in this ara includes PBR Big Sky, Mosaic Ultra Lounge, Shark Bar, Howl at the Moon, No Other Pub by Sporting KC, McFaddens, and Karaoke Bar! The quickest way to travel around downtown is definitely by Uber, which you can get anywhere you want from this residence under $10. Most Ubers cost $6 - $8 ranging depending where you want to go downtown. If weather permits taking a Bird or Spin scooter is a great option and serves for lots of fun. There's usually around 10 scooters within a block of this residence at one time. You can get anywhere you want downtown within 5 - 10 minutes on one of these scooters. The Street Car is less than a mile away, which will take you anywhere in town between the River Market and Union Station. Pets welcome for a nominal pet fee -$40 per pet. $100 per pet for long term stays. Pets must be crated while unsupervised, house trained, and are not allowed on the furniture or in the beds. No parties or gatherings. The number of people in the unit may not exceed the guest count on the reservation unless special permission has been granted. This extends to the building amenities as well. Local area residents (Kansas City, MO and surrounding area) with 0 reviews are not allowed to book the property and those with reviews must first be approved for stay and host may require a security deposit.
