There is also a grill and picnic area on the side of the cabin perfect for hosting alfresco meals. We hope you enjoy the space and the property as much as we do. It's a very special place with a lot of history and we're excited to share it with you! Guest access You’ll have access to the full 22 acre property. If you wish to explore, a property map is located inside the cabin. Please stay on the property and do not wander past any No Trespassing signs. The neighboring property owners are very kind, but do wish to not have any roaming guests on their property. Other things to note If you’d like unlimited firewood access, you can let me know after booking and I’ll request $25 via Airbnb. The cabin has modern air conditioning for added comfort that both cools and heats. The main heat source is the wood burning stove and kerosene monitor. Extra electric heaters are available and can be moved around as necessary. Please make sure you feel comfortable using a wood stove in very cold winter conditions. We allow pets (well-behaved dogs only). We do request that you take extra precautions with your pet to avoid accidents or damage. Please make sure to add your pet to the reservation. We do have an outdoor cabin cat, Lance, who showed up a few years ago as a kitten, and we got him back to health. He is the sweetest little guy, and guests absolutely adore. He is very friendly if you like cats, but will also keep to himself if they aren't your thing. He is totally cool with dogs, a little curious about them, but mostly stays at a distance. He stays strictly outside and has an automated feeder. I like to give guests a heads up just in case! The cabin is situated in a quintessential "holler", which is a valley a ways back off the main road. It is very private, which is a huge draw for folks staying there. The driveway is a long gravel/dirt driveway that has a small incline at the beginning before flattening out. 4WD or AWD vehicles are not required but do keep in mind the possibility of snow and ice in the winter and check the forecast before your stay. There may be mud, bumps, and rivets in the driveway that happen after harsh weather. I do my best to keep it maintained, but the mountain weather can be rough on driveway conditions. Please be aware that Ashe County is more rural than many other mountain areas, so road and driveway conditions can be rougher than you’re used to. Low-to-the-ground vehicles, such as sedans, are not the most comfortable in this area. Please note the driveway is narrow and passing is only possible in a few spots. You don't often run into oncoming vehicles, but be mindful just in case you encounter an oncoming vehicle. This is especially important given the other rental on the property. Commercial use / private events: Commercial use (retreats, workshops, photoshoots) requires disclosure and separate venue agreements. Groups planning organized activities should contact me directly before booking.
