The Sumapaz Experience is located 5 minutes away from the town of San Jose de Minas. We’re a one of a kind newly built home nested within a 17-acre organic farm. If you’re looking to disconnect, detox and experience nature...look no further! Our home is a beautiful and spacious adobe construction, filled with stunning views, year-round organic fruits and vegetables, and beautiful hikes to enjoy. We’re located an hour and a half door-to-door from the Quito International Airport. The space The Sumapaz Experience is an ideal refuge for those looking for a cozy and healthy getaway in which to connect with your loved ones, yourself and/or nature. Its beautiful landscapes are typical of the Andean mountain scenery, where a thousand and one different shades of green conspire to create a breathtaking quilt of nature. Be advised, as our visitors have noted, at times you have to pinch yourself and wonder if you’re looking at a postcard. Seventeen acres of land make up Sumapaz (translated as Utter-Peace) Refuge. We have a vegetable garden, numerous fruit trees and are currently working on a large reforestation project that covers more than half the farm, which strives to build a primary forest to help protect local water sources, fauna and flora. Most of the food consumed in Sumapaz is produced within the farm according to strict organic standards and is readily available for guest to enjoy. Many of our guests bring their own groceries and enjoy preparing their meals. However, for convenience, we also offer our visitors the option of requesting breakfast, lunch and/or dinner, a la carte from a variety menu. This service must be requested at least a week before arrival so that we can have the proper groceries in stock. Breakfast $15 per person Lunch/Dinner $18 USD per person This service is only offered seasonally and is not being offered currently due to covid bio security. Casa Sumapaz Sumapaz was built in 2014 as a magical refuge and getaway for our friends and family. Comprised of over 4,000 square feet, it is a comfortable and cozy home away from home. It has often been described as a view with a house, since every space is framed with large windows that purposefully conspire to bring nature inside. The adobe structure insulates temperature, where it's usually not too hot or too cold. The upstairs has an oversized master’s suite (one queen bed and one single sofa bed), complete with a sitting area and a work desk. Next to it is a large bathroom, as well as a second bedroom with a full sized bed and a sitting area as well. The second floor has a large "mirador' or terrace to enjoy the wonderful views from. The downstairs area has a bedroom (with a full sized bed), a full bathroom, living room (with two single sofa beds), social half bathroom, foyer, dinning area (accommodates 6 people), and mud room (with washer and dryer). The social area (foyer, living room, dining room and kitchen) are an open space concept. The house has two furnished outdoor patios to relax in. Casa Sumapaz has a 7 person occupancy. At Casa Sumapaz you can expect to find: - Oversized master’s suite with queen bed and sitting area with single sofa bed - Second Bedroom with full size bed and sitting area - Large upstairs "mirador" or terrace with stunning views - Two full bathrooms, one half bathroom - Third Bedroom (full size bed) - Open living room, foyer, dining room and kitchen floor plan - Fully equipped kitchen - Mudroom with washer and dryer - 2 furnished outdoor patios Guest access Guests have access to the entire farm for their enjoyment. Other things to note At the Sumapaz Experience we have a main house, two guest houses, and a worker's house. Houses are nested strategically away from each other for privacy purposes. Since we are a working farm, guests should expect to possibly see other guests, the hosts or workers going about their business around the property. This is done mindfully and respectfully so that visitors can fully enjoy their stay.
