The house features 4 en-suite r bedrooms, 3 additional sleeping spaces, powder room, chef's kitchen, dining and living areas, lovely terraces, pool, spa, and pool house. The space Emergence of The Manor House A building saga that spanned nearly three decades, the Haywood Vineyards Manor House emerged as a state- of-the-art four bedroom, four and one half-bath home, with features that recall times past including concrete countertops, handmade cabinetry, a fireplace and cozy dining area in the substantial, professional well-equipped kitchen. Architect Ivan Poutiatinem, who oversaw the project, inspired the counter level kitchen fireplace, one of his signature features. The living/dining area features soaring ceilings and a beautiful two story stone fireplace. Three steps up from the sunken living area, the first level includes a king suite, queen suite, television/entertainment room with sofa bed, powder room, and laundry room. The staircase, a masterpiece unto itself, features hand built quarter sawn vertical grain fir railing. The climb to the second floor reveals views of the home’s astounding stonework, woodwork, artwork and furnishings. Arriving on the top floor, you’ll find the largest primary suite, a second queen suite, and a yoga room with a twin bed. A large built in window seat in the hall overlooks vineyards and serves another sleeping area. Building The Manor house was an ambitious project launched in the 1970s. Its first phase was handcrafted by Portuguese stone mason, Ferranco Viara. who passed away long before its completion. Abandoned for nearly 20 years, the stone structure was often taken for the ruins of an old winery. It served as a set for commercials and the movie, Walk in the Clouds, and has been traversed by such cinematic greats as the late Anthony Quinn and Keanu Reeves. While the house silently waited, building codes changed. Over time and with much effort Peter and Maggie Haywood determinedly convinced the County to allow the exceptional construction to move forward. They assembled a new crew of craftsmen from Mexico in the year 2000 and the house began to grow again. The second generation of stone work melds beautifully with the first. Knotty alder floors flow throughout the rooms. Reclaimed wood ceilings supported by huge, heavy timbers, soar above the living areas. Interior walls are formed of hard, color imbedded plaster with round corners, and bathrooms are graced with marble. The thickness of the stone walls keeps the house temperate year round, however a sophisticated radiant heating system supplies natural heat when necessary, and a complex fan system draws any access heat out through vents in the roof. Every room is furnished with quality, authentic antiques, lovingly sought out and collected by Maggie, during the second phase of building. The dining table and an antique twin bedroom set in an additional sleep space are heirlooms from Peter's family. Views of the vineyards, hillsides, and native oaks abound from every room. Slate patios invite guests to step out and enjoy the outdoors. The Haywood Vineyard’s Manor House is more than quintessential wine country; it embodies the heart of the grape growing family and their commitment to quality in all aspects of their lives. They invite guests who wish to truly immerse themselves in wine country culture for three days or more, to entertain, family, friends, and business associates, and to make the Manor House their own for a very special experience. Vineyard tours offer guests a chance to learn about grape growing and and the essence of winemaking at its source. Pool and Spa The a beautiful pool, spa and terrance overlooks the vineyards, adding even more magic to the ambiance of this special vineyard estate. The quality of construction and design compliments the unique characteristics and quality of the home. A charge for heating the pool if desired will be determined by the temperature of the water and the cost of propane to heat. It is $30 per hour for propane and can take up to 24 hours or more during cold weather. A fee of $100 per day will then be charged to keep the pool at temperature. A fee of $75 per day will be charged to heat the spa during winter, and $50 per day for shoulder and high seasons, approximately April through October. These fees are not included in the fee structure as they are variable and optional. Guests will be required to sign a pool and spa waiver. Guest access Guests will be provided with the gate code to enter the property. A large carport and plenty of driveway space provide parking for several cars, however The Haywoods prefer that the number of cars is kept to a minim for conservation purposes and out for respect for neighbors and keeping traffic to a minimum of the road. Other things to note Sonoma County now requires food waste to be composted. The Haywoods are environmentally conscious and ask that guests also recycle during their stay. Appropriate bins are provided. All guests are required to sign and return the Rental Agreement, Welcome Agreement, and Pool/Spa Waiver provided to them by the owners. Early check-in and late check out requests cannot be confirmed in many cases until shortly prior to arrival and are dependent on housekeeping schedules. The house keeping staff cannot always change their scheduled to accommodate late minute changes. We frequently have turn around cleanings and sometimes have last minute bookings. If it is extremely important for guests to arrive early and leave late it may be possible to reserve those days at a discounted rate.
