If you happen to stay on a Wednesday night you can (if you want) have your own live band (free) and invite others to come over if you like. Its pretty darn cool. << Please note - as of 7-9-26 Airbnb has decided to take all their fees from the hosts income. We used to pay 3% and now 15.5% so we had to raise our prices. You will pay the same as you did before but the optics are bad now with our nightly rates looking very high. However Net Net its the same> Very scenic property with over 7 acres of gorgeous forest and private lake with canoe and kayak. The property has a gazebo, two bridges and a number of very scenic areas for photographs so its used for retreats, family reunions, special events, etc. Folks that have enjoyed Hickory Lodge to date have been family reunions, old friends getting together, small intimate DIY weddings, company team building, company presentations, meditation, wellness, church and yoga retreats, crafting weekends, fishing and sports get-aways, intown Atlanta folks looking to get to the country without driving for many hours, traveling rock bands, sports teams, special celebrations, men's and women's getaways, band concerts and couples looking for a romantic hideaway close to home. The Hickory Lodge was recently even used as a location for movie & TV production due to its differing looks of the structure/property. Local and traveling bands also use it for small intimate shows. PLEASE NOTE! I do not have 7 formal bedrooms. I have 7 private sleeping rooms of which 4 are formal bedrooms, one is shared with the home gym, one is the very large laundry/office w great view of the lake and the last is a closet off one of the bedrooms with a door and single bed. I've been getting hammered by people that don't read my listing. Airbnb doesn't give me the ability to list my place as having 4 bedrooms and 3 more private sleeping rooms. All I can do is list it as having 7 bedrooms. If you need 6-7 formal bedrooms please do not book my place!! While we are at it, if any of the below apply to you, please do not stay at Hickory Lodge: - If it seems expensive - You expect the place to be as nice as the Ritz - You are uptight, a complainer, demanding or have negative energy - You want to sit in front of the TV and don't like nature - You haven't read everything in my listing and haven't looked at all the fotos - You are OCD and need everything neat and tidy - You don't think you can control your group - You need a formal swimming pool. Enjoy farm fresh eggs - we have 26 laying hens - relax on the big deck at the side of the house or enjoy the chairs on the front porch. There is a very beautiful massage, yoga, relaxation space on the end of the screen porch with a beautiful view of the lake for you to enjoy. Give your sweetheart a hot rocks massage or do some cupping to the song of a million frogs. Or we can hire a massage therapist for your group. Pure heaven. The main floor features solid walnut, teak, cork and bamboo floors. Huge modern kitchen with eat in table, couch and large granite bar/island. An entire extended family can hang out in the kitchen!! Oven, warming drawer. gas range, microwave and much more. Large dining room can seat 12 or more. Living room features grandfather clock, large masonry fireplace, grand piano, flat screen TV, WiFi and plenty of seating. Large laundry room and home office combination room that is sometimes used as a 4th private sleeping room on the main level. See photos. Also on the main floor are jack n jill bedrooms with shared full bath and queen beds. The large master suite features king size bed, teak bathroom with large walk in shower with rain shower head and body sprays. Claw foot tub and double marble sinks. Light a candle, fill the tub, open the doors to the screen porch and listen to the frogs. There is a newly installed electronic fireplace at the foot of the claw foot tub which is beautiful. Double doors off the master suite open to the huge deck and outdoor fireplace. The house even has a full sized heated massage table close to the claw foot tub on the screen porch for a soak and a massage!! Another flat screen TV in the master bedroom. The pub level of the house on the lower level is all fun. Another two private sleeping rooms and bathroom with another flat screen TV in the family bedroom and 75" newly added to the pub. The family bedroom sleeps 6 with two queen beds and two single beds. One in the closet. In between the two private sleeping rooms are large seating areas, restaurant booths, games, band jam area, etc. There is also another masonry fireplace, and then about any pub game you can think of. Ping pong, foosball, bumper pool, a poker table, corn hole, golf putting area, axe throwing, full sized arcade console (Galaga, Ms PacMan, etc) and dart board. Fully equipped home gym. The other private sleeping room on the pub level is shared with the gym and features two very comfortable queen beds with foam toppers. Very quiet, dark wonderful sleeping room. The feature of the lower level is the commercial sized oak pub, restaurant booths, band jam area/stage and wine cellar/intimate sitting room. The wine cellar is perfect for lighting a few candles and unwinding in this very dark quiet room which can seat 8+. The wine is way past prime so leave it alone - its just to look at and enjoy the dust that has settled on it for the last 20 years. Some large groups even use this as a 8th private sleeping room. Vaping and medical smokables are allowed in this room. All tobacco outside. Out the double doors to a large lower deck to play corn hole, throw axes, or walk down the stairs to a fire pit or further down to a picnic table, lakeside stage and the dock with a canoe and kayak. Go for an evening paddle and explore the shoreline. Throw a line and catch game fish. Its catch and release please! Immediately to the west of the dock and picnic table is a newly constructed stage (16x20) used for small wedding ceremonies, acoustic concerts, yoga, sleeping outside, fancy luncheons/dinners lakeside and/or just hanging out near the lake. For an additional charge, a bed can be set up on the stage with bug net! A truly romantic place to spend the night when the weather is cool. Two super fast WiFi systems. Gig speed. I will consider pets although I've had some bad experiences with larger dogs slobbering and dripping from their mouths on the wood floors. Sharp nails scratch the floors and many dogs bring in dirt and small stones in the pads of their feet. I also have a hard time with heavy shedding dogs. I do have a small pet deposit and usually ask folks to keep the dog or pet on the lower level which is carpeted. That's easier to clean than the wood floors and not so easy to damage. So if you have a pet you'd like to bring, simply ask and we can discuss. You'll find I'm willing to consider anything. Go for a walk in the woods on 7 acres with two streams, two bridges, large granite out croppings and amazing old Beech, Oak and Hickory trees. The property features an archry range as well. The house is very private at the end of a 500 foot long drive but less than 5 minutes to many food and grocery choices. A fantastic location in Cherokee County horse country called Hickory Flat. Secluded but very close to all the comforts and Hwy 140 that leads to I-575 to the north and Alpharetta to the south. Downtown Woodstock, Canton and Alpharetta are only minutes away and offer breweries, fine dining, night life and shopping. If you are into wildlife, you might wake to turkeys on the front porch or deer on either side of the lodge. The woods are full of all kinds of birds, frogs, toads, turtles and many mammals including river otter and beaver. We even see on a regular basis a Pileated wood pecker pair in the trees and King Fisher and Great Blue Herons on the lake. Hawks, Owls, Geese, Ducks and just about every song bird you can think of. Did we say we have 26 laying hens? Yes we do. Gather fresh eggs in the morning. The lodge even has two sewing machines, iron, and board for any clothing work that might be needed. We have a steamer as well. Coffee bar - being a coffee freak, the lodge features an extensive coffee & tea preparation area in the kitchen. Coffee and herb grinder, Keurig machine, french press, esspresso/cappuccino machine & 12 cup coffee pot. 40 cup pots available upon request. To determine your party size, simply determine the largest group which will be staying on any one night and that is your group size to use for booking. I decided that how many beds are ultimately used is the determining factor as in the end laundry, wear and tear and cleaning drive price. Cleanliness: please if you are a stickler for every square inch of a place being spotless the lodge is probably not for you. Sure I get many many reviews that the place was sparkling clean but others rate me down for cleanliness. Keep in mind this is nearly 5,600 SF of space and most groups use all of it. If I were to hire a professional company to clean every square inch of space after every group I'd have to charge a $300 cleaning fee. I keep my cleaning fee to a minimum by having a professional do the bathrooms, floors, hard surfaces, beds and kitchen and the rest we do. All hard surfaces are sanitized, floors are cleaned etc. all according to the Airbnb standards. But if you go looking for dirt you will probably find it! Close to impossible to catch everything after every group but I sure try. You'll probably see stains on the pub level carpet. I allow drinks and food on that level and accidents seem to happen frequently. I do have the carpet cleaned regularly but I never can keep up. If you leave a big mess, we may charge you for additional cleaning as again we keep our cleaning fee low in anticipation of groups doing some basic picking up and not just walking away from a disaster. Also this place is a lodge in the woods! Critters, bugs, etc might just walk through. Well its not like that but I have people every once and a while give me a terrible rating because a Smoky Brown Roach, ant or other bug got into the house under a door or through an opening in the brick walls. This place was built in 1974 and there are spots where bugs get in. Its a fact of life when living in the woods. My exterminator says bugs come in and there's not much they can do about it. I've had the walls sealed and organic chemicals used. However every once and a while a bug gets in. If that's not you, don't stay here. Please! Our advice to you my potential guest! If you are a neat freak, are uptight, OCD, stressed out and have negative energy about you, please do not stay at our place. Happy, relaxed, fun people are more our style. This is a fun relaxing place and life is WAY too short for complications, complaining or stress! We've also gotten knocked before by those that think our nightly rate is too high. We've been told that if I charge Ritz prices I shouldn't have a bed that squeaks or a stain on the carpet, etc. Yes my rate can get over $700 or more for a night like a resort BUT my rate includes many people and a resort is usually double occupancy. So for 10 people a resort might be $2000 a night and I'm $700. Really not the same. I encourage all that feel my rates are high to stay somewhere else. Fun, happy, smart, alive, wonderful people only please! No nitpicking or whining. Life is fun! Be fun. The lodge has been recently updated and has two stages for live music. One inside on the pub level and one outside by the lake. If you are a band and want to book the lodge, let me know. We can work something out. If you'd like my band to come put on a private concert whilst you are here, let me know. We enjoy jamming for my guests. So far the reviews are rave. The Hickory Flat Band plays at the lodge every Wednesday or Thursday night. If you are lucky enough to stay on a Wednesday/Thursday we will certainly play for your group - usually for free. We do charge to play on Friday and Saturday nights as band members have to give up other paying gigs to play on those nights. You'll have your own night club with your own house band. Its pretty darn cool. We are one of the best cover bands in the Atlanta area. 11 piece with a killer horn section. A truly amazing private place perfect for a couple or group. To book the Hickory Lodge you must be a fully verified guest by Airbnb which includes providing a valid government ID. I also require at least one member of the group to be 25 years old or older who is responsible for the group. I can be lenient on the minimum age requirement after some conversation, prior ratings and/or a meeting. In keeping with Airbnb rules - please no large parties where people from the outside are invited to drop by please! Fun is only for the people paying and staying unless we work something else out. I'm very flexible in what I allow at the Lodge. If you can dream it, I can make it happen but we gotta know about it! Secret parties and other unknown plans will end poorly. I do offer extra services for an extra fee. Some examples are: I do take groups out on my sexy 37' Sea Ray yacht. Watch a sunset, go swimming, relax w music, drink and sun. Its quite nice and always ready to go. My band will play for your group - nominal fee or free. Its worth it! Have you ever sung with a live band? Our shows usually feature 2 hrs of live music and then we switch into karaoke mode if anyone wants to sing with the band. Then one of our singers is a professional DJ and we then move into fun as long as you want. I will build/set a bonfire for you that will actually ignite and burn when you light it. As you can see in the photos the lodge does have a gorgeous gold throne. Use of this is an extra charge. Free if you book the band. I will set up the lodge with extra flowers or gift baskets, themes, colors, etc. Just tell me how I can make the place perfect for your group. Massage therapists can be arranged for the massage table on the screen porch. Performers can be hired for your event whatever it might be. The crazier the better! DJ's, dancers, music groups, performers, servers, artists, etc. Co-host Danica is a circus arts performer so she can do Poi, fire spinning, hula hoop, juggling, etc. She is mesmerizing. A queen bed or two can be set up on the lakeside stage with bug nets for a very romantic night of sleeping under the stars. A dance pole can be set up on the lower level. Daily rental fee applies. Firewood - I try to have some firewood on hand but its best to bring a bundle if you plan to have a bonfire. Bands and musicians can rent the board, snake and PA to perform. I do ask that I be present at least to help get everything working. Please otherwise do not touch the equipment. Thank you! You will find us to be VERY accommodating. HOWEVER, I hate surprises. Well some surprises I like. ;-) So if you book for 10 people I expect only 10 people to spend the night and only 10 people to be on the property during your stay. If you'd like to have a few people over for a meal or to visit during your stay please TELL ME. I do charge a small bit extra for extra people due to wear and tear and utilities etc. However am very fair when I'm told your plans. I've had a couple groups in the past book my place for 4-7 people and then invite 20. That's not cool and not allowed. I equate it to shoplifting. Be upfront and we'll get along just fine. No request is too crazy, wild or nuts but I need to know! Be honest about your plans whatever they are! Thank you!! Guest access The entire property is for your enjoyment however the garage and out buildings do contain personal property. The entire home and property are yours to enjoy. Archery / gun range, canoe, fishing equipment, game room, gym, bar and wine cellar. Mountain bike trails and hiking as well. Other things to note Prior to your stay please send me a note and let me know what at the property is of interest to you. What do you want to do as then I can be prepared. Do you need special cooking equipment or appliances? I also have the following games you can use. There is a large flat field on the property where the following games can be set up: badminton, volleyball, cricket, croquet, soccer, corn hole, Bocci, baseball/softball/wiffle ball, horse shoes, etc. If you can think of it, I can have it for you. There is also a private lake where you can fish or canoe/kayak. Lots of hiking and great places to just sit and listen to the water and wind in the towering hardwood forest.
