Adair is one of the oldest and highest residences in the Grampians. Built in the 1930s, the home is furnished sympathetically with the times and offers 4 comfortable bedrooms, a large air conditioned lounge, large welcoming kitchen/dining room, and a generous verandah with spectacular views over the surrounding countryside. Kangaroos and emus are a common sight around the house, and walking trails from the house lead to some of the most spectacular views in the eastern Grampians. The space The highest residence in The Grampians, and the oldest house in the district, Adair is a 4 bedroom 1930s historic residence. The property shares a boundary with The Grampians National Park and offers stunning views over the surrounding countryside. This historic homestead comes with 25 acres abounding with kangaroos, emus, deer and birds. Adair has accommodation for 10 people with 3 queen beds and two sets of bunk beds. It has three bathrooms: one bathroom is ensuite; the second boasts a shower and toilet; and the third, a toilet and a deep clawfoot bath - the perfect way to relax after a strenuous walk or a long day's sightseeing. The kitchen is well equiped, with a 90cm electric oven, induction cooktop, microwave and dishwasher. It has a cosy wood heater, gorgeous bay window seat and a long table that seats 10, making it a perfect place to hang out with friends and family, chatting over a glass of wine or cup of tea or coffee made with the crystal-clear mountain spring water that supplies all the house's needs. The lounge room comfortably seats 10, has a 50 inch smart TV and a reverse-cycle air conditioning for year round comfort and a cosy wood heater for those cooler months. A 5 burner barbecue and comfortable outdoor furniture provide perfect alfresco dining on the spacious verandah, with an unparalleled views over the surrounding farmlands and out to the distant horizon. Guest access Guests have unrestricted access to all areas on the property. In the house they are free to enjoy: the lounge room with TV, DVD player, and a large selection of board games; unlimited free wifi access; a well equipped kitchen with electric stove and oven, microwave and large fridge and seating for 10 at the big table; and outdoor areas including a generous verandah with outdoor furniture and a 5 burner barbecue. Guests arriving in 2024 should note that a bushfire devastated the area around Adair on February 13, 2024 destroying 48 homes in our tiny hamlet and severely impacting the surrounding countryside. While Adair survived completely intact and offers the same level of comfort and convenience as before the blaze, the scars of the fire are obvious. To learn more check out our historicadair website.
