Watch the clouds float blissfully overhead as you relax and de-stress to a chorus of birdsong at dusk - pure bliss! SAUNA This will be available to guests by appointment and subject to availability as of March 2026. Extra costs will apply and bookings will be essential. The sauna is located on the owner's side of the property but within walking distance of the retreat! ECO CREDENTIALS Wildwood Retreat enjoys a 7 star ECO rating. The property is clad on the exterior in stunning spotted gum that has been sustainably sourced. We have also used recycled timber off cuts to create bespoke doors for the property, both interior and exterior, including the retreat entry door. We grow organically, recycle and also encourage our guests to recycle and to use the compost bin provided for their vegetable scraps for our worm farm. WILDLIFE Prolific bird and wildlife can be viewed directly from the property, including paddy melons, sea eagles, wedge tailed eagles, parrots and other prolific bird life. You are also likely to see our resident echidna, native hens, wallabies, possums and our resident wombat - though he can be shy! We also have pet Guinea Fowl. GORGEOUS LOCAL BEACH We are also fortunate to have a gorgeous little beach - Shelly Beach - just a 2 minute drive away used predominantly by locals (its our little secret!), that is relatively shallow as tidal and that offers a fantastic spot to have a swim year round! It is also wonderful to sit and enjoy a glass of beer or wine later in the afternoon/early dusk! PROVISIONS Guests are expected to bring their own provisions to eat and drink as the property has its own kitchen and cooking facilities. If guests run out of an item or are missing an ingredient however, we are happy to supply this if we can! ACCESS The area immediately around the retreat is relatively flat, however beyond that immediate garden (accessed via rustic stone steps) the land is steep, the ground uneven, there is an open dam, unfenced hot tub (accessed by adults ONLY), unfenced stone terraces as well as steep rustic stone steps to negotiate. Internally there is also a spiral staircase that connects the two levels, due to insufficient room for a lift or ramp. SHARED + PRIVATE AREAS The retreat is fully self contained and NO areas internally are shared. All rooms are for the exclusive use of our guests. The Spa is also for the exclusive use of our guests when guests are in situ. The guest garden by the entry area is screened off and is for the exclusive use of our guests. The front deck of our property adjoins the retreat. This is the ONLY shared space other than the surrounding forest and pasture. We do however do out utmost to avoid using the front deck when guests are in situ to help ensure our guests privacy. In truth, we rarely if see, let alone commune with, the vast majority of our guests! We leave the decision whether to interact to our guests entirely! Our guests privacy and enjoyment of the property is very important to us and so we do not disturb guests unless absolutely necessary. REGION Tasman Peninsula! One of the most stunning regions in Lutruwita/Tasmania! Overall, guests will find staying a Wildwood a truly unique, tranquil, rejuvenating and relaxing experience. Two nights is insufficient though to truly experience all this property and fabulous region has to offer. Why not stay a while and truly immerse yourself in all this glorious region has to offer! Guest access Guests have their own parking and garden area and entry area and have exclusive use of the retreat. There is a small shared deck area at the front of the property. We do not encroach on this private area when guests are in residence. Guests access the retreat with their own key that is kept in a key safe. The code will be emailed or texted a day or two before your stay. Guests can come and go as they please. We rarely see our guests and value our guests privacy hugely. But we can be contacted if guests need us! The Spa/Hot Tub is on the retreat side of the property and is for guests exclusive use during their stay. It is ESSENTIAL that guests follow the Hot Tub Safety Guidelines. To access guests must remove the cover, but need to ensure that the spa is not left unsupervised without a cover at any time. And the cover MUST be fully secured after use for the safety of children. Other things to note We are battling the native fur balls with respects to our new landscaping and the extended area on the land and driveway in is still being landscaped and we are engaging in some bush clearing. However, this will NOT impact on your stay, private areas or enjoyment of the property. We have cats and though they are not allowed into the retreat if you have a severe cat allergy we cannot promise a stray cat hair (as they can float in the air and stick to our clothes) definitively won't find its way in there. BUT on the whole the cats do not and are not allowed in the retreat. Sometimes we are away so city guests have to be comfortable potentially staying on 100 acres in a secluded setting on their own!
